Hmmmm ... now that you mention it, forget the classy little skirt & tank top. I want something outlandish, outrageous, something along the lines of the self-portraits that kept my photography class in an uproar during J-school. Maybe something inspired by the line that Heatherette just showed during Fashion Week, which I'm sure you all watched in rapt consternation & admiration. No, no, tempting as it is, going the Heatherette route would fail to dispel the 'gay man' aura. Thakoon, perhaps?

Do you think a person could balance on an Airstream in 4" heels (being careful, of course, to stand on the beam?

I got it! A rally contest to come up with an idea for my avatar photo! I'm sick of being just another sans-serif font. Too bad Airstreams are so dang bulky & inflexible. They don't really lend themselves to photography the way, say, a reticulated python does. Or boyfriends' linen suit jackets & roommates' beaded crucifixes (crucifi?) ... not that I've resorted to any of the above, mind you.

I think this is where HotLAVA comes in. Just sent an email begging her to join us ....

Dog-gone-it, Theresa, whyda have to go and tempt me. This rally is sounding more my style.....the camping trip we have planned the following weekend: 6 families (that is 11 adults) with a total of 11 kids between us in a parking-lot style camping facility. We dig out every Halloween decoration we have to haunt our sites, spend hours on that, then spend our free time greeting costumed kids screaming "trick-or-treat!" while breaking up fights between our own. Then it's about time to clean it all up. Horrible as this may sound, it's a tradition and so much fun for our kids. We adults endure it. Did I say "endure?" I meant to say ENJOY. We ENJOY it. Just proof that with enough alcohol you can survive even the most torturous circumstances..... *

* Note: sarcasm doesn't always convey in forum posts, so it must be noted that large quantities of alcohol are not being consumed by the parents of the 11 children in attendance at our yearly halloween campout, as implied. We are far too responsible for said behavior. Slurred speech, stumbling, and proclamations of "I love you, man!" are all result of exhaustion from fun filled hours spent by very responsible, wholesome parents.

Reticulated pythons.....linen suits......crucifixes.......Alright, an avatar photo couldn't possibly be as outrageous as how this paragraph renders in my brain......

I can only imagine......magnify the image......and I'm certain I still haven't stumbled upon an image even close to what you're thinking

Hmmm.....Perhaps there a way we can work this into a rally theme and a avatar photograph? Bring the snake, the suit, and the crucifixes and the high heels. Add one of those big heavy feathered showgirl hats (are you wondering how I know they're heavy?)
Note to all....bring cameras. We can make Theresa's vision a reality!

As much as we would love to go, I don't think it's going to work out for us. I would be very interested in a Winter month rally if I could talk anyone into it?

Let's see now.. it's September, leaves are turning, you could be Bambi! Or, in reality, a mule deer, native to the Pecatonica Forest Preserve. We'll loan you antlers from the shop.. you provide the camouflage.. rifle season isn't until November.... It'll be LOTS easier than finding a python, let alone a reticulated one.

Let us know....

Sorry to say that we have to stay home this weekend - John injured his knee, our daughter has her first homecoming dance and an 80th birthday party for a grandpa was planned. Talk about events conspiring against us! Have a great time and hopefully we'll see you the next time around.

Kristin

Sorry to hear that you can not make it Kristin. Hope that your weekend goes smooth.
Just an FYI the camp ground is set up in a loop. I hope to stake out the far end of the loop. It has about 5 spots on the inside and about 8 on the outside. It will be a quawzie, semi kind of wagon wheel thing happening.

For those who may have missed it in an earlier post, attached is a word file for an ID sign for the rally. Just open the file and substitute your information for ours.

See you all there.
