Can't wait to see you! We did discover leaks though, so we are doing repairs today. I hope there aren't any more leaks downstream of the ones we've found already!

Turns out the truck needed some major electronic repairs. Richard says he'll have it done on time.

Janet,
Don is out helping Richard (our mechanic) as I type... Bambi is nearly ready to roll! If all goes well we will hit the road Tuesday morning. If repairs take longer, we may be a day behind... Fingers crossed!
Looking forward to seeing everyone! We are the same, just a little more gray... :P

No worries! I've suspect that my vision may have changed; I clearly am getting younger, thinner and more devastatingly gorgeous with the passage of time as are my friends .

truck
The steam is up in the truck and as long as we can keep the lamp oil pumping we should be good. The small animals running in the Ferris pump are now properly being fed. Formally the electric shock to their rears was too high and the fur kept being burnt off. The smell inside the cab was not good. The flat side of the tires is now on the top of the wheel so all is good there. The needle injectors in the seats should keep me awake during the trip. Claudia has had ample practice on the hand crank to keep the artificial V8 engine sound going so we should not stand out on the highways. Out mechanic has made a mixture of bee's wax, Ox hair, and the eyes of 20 beetles, stirred in a mixture of WD 40 and the milk of grey squirrel. He will keep this mixture burning in a pile of old parts from the truck while we are traveling. He assured us that this has worked for all of his clients in the past.
WE ARE GOOD TO GO!!!

meteor shower
The weather channel says that starting the 24 may well be the meteor shower of a life time. Up to 200 per hour. We will be in the perfect place.

JANET! FOR UPDATE on who is bringing what!
Janet,
We said for Saturday night "Bread and something else..."
So, we will do a loaf of French garlic bread - and Chicken Marsala as the "something else."
We will make it to Charbonneau just east of Kennewick Thursday night and will be in as we make it on Friday - We will have to leave Sunday after lunch to make it back to Montana on Monday - but we are looking forward to this weekend!

Nice. Charbonneau is a great place to camp. The views from the top of the loop road are amazing

This week we are frantically trying to 1) continue looking like I'm doing work for the people who pay me 2) plan what to bring for the potlucks 3) try to find a WD hitch locally to connect the Caravel to the new Flex - else we will be arriving in the faithful old black van as usual
We will be bringing cheesy potato dish for Sunday, and I'll see if I can pull together a nice chili for Friday night. still trying to figure out what to do for Saturday. And of course I'm always up for any prepping or cleaning chores that need to be done.
Can't wait to see everyone!

So you know I'm not going to wuss out like last year - here is the Caravel in the driveway, ready for one last trip behind the van. Tomorrow we are taking it to get the new hitch setup for the Flex so our new rig will be making it's debut at Trout Lake!
One of the many benefits of a small trailer is that the entire rig will fit in our driveway! Heck, we could probably go all the way up to a 20'

Well, our Bambi is packed and ready to go... took a bit longer (and more $) than expected for the truck, but we plan on heading out tomorrow! Yay! We had hoped to take shorter drives this time, but it is only 400 miles or so.... hope to see everyone soon!

We will miss you all, we were really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, Brad committed to a restoration project with a June 1 delivery and we have way too much left to do! Please, someone post pictures so we can see what we missed!

Just reporting in for those of you who couldn't make it.... 72 degrees, breezy, sunny and totally awesome. Last night we stayed up for a view of the meteor shower. Many opportunities for wishes.
