Hi Mike,
Met you at Bev Beach last year. Yes, I'm sure there'll be room for you and you're welcome with us any time. There will also be some serious bikers in the group (I'm not that serious ), and I'm sure you can get some of them to go on a loop or two.

Anxious to talk to you more about your Alaska trip, since we're considering a trip this summer.

Bring some aluminum foil to ward off the aliens!

Anyone bringing a road bicycle? There are a few excellent loops out of Trout Lake. There are two different 50 mile loops we were considering. Any takers?
Come on down. There are bikers coming, I am certain. Not sure that they are road bikes, though. Our tent buddies and bringing some all terrain (toursist-type) bikes...

Beverages

Hi All, I am bringing a very large cooler full of ice and beverages.

What I need are some suggestions from the masses as to what type of beverages to fill it it with ?

So pipe in and let me know what your fav is and I will add it to the mix.

I already have Coke, Mountain Dew and bottled water.

Oh yeah, I need one of you lucky fellers to bring your rivet shaver ! Please.

I also am bringing the lighting as per usual.

Regrets...

We were so stoked to see you all again. Unfortunately/fortunately, a client called with a project and I must grind the metaphorical grain.

We hope to mind meld with you all soon. As you know, much like Hotel California, once you check in to Area 33, you never really leave...

Janet,

Has someone been designated the collector of the camping fees? And do we know approximatly what they will be so we can bring the necessary $$, checks, credit cards, gold, silver, aluminum, merlot, etc.

this just in from ground zero

first a weather report...

expect brief periods of continuous variability, with extremely mild intermittent extremes...

now for the roads...

apparently don's video has created a panic here, folks are leaving by the ones...

the road north from the river is ONE LANE and traffic is tightly controlled.

southbound access is from 6 am to 10 pm, while north bound INTO troutlake is from 11 pm to 11:07 pm only.

update on the stewards of a33...

zoe (the property owner) has hired a new house boy named cocoa, he is conducting cavity searches at the entrance.

the first one is free.

there is now a cell signal reaching the area, in response zoe is confiscating all electronic devices at the gate.

she has also traded her hubbie (jerry) in on a new stepford 6000 model...

it appears he's programed to say "yes dear", "let me do that" and "would you like more cocoa?"

community updates...

don't worry about hauling out your trash, the city has put a new sanitary fill station at the area, it's really quite lovely.

to counteract the body lice and flea problem, they've installed a new ddt sprinkler system...

the water is fine, really it is...

OK

that's all for now folks, another camper just finished the cavity serach...

IF you are thinking of coming, it's not too late to cancel, do in NOW!

cheers

2AIR, After the last bone marrow biopsy, ANY cavity search will be a pleasure!! Will they still be conducting them Saturday AM? Please save a flat spot for the Pontiac - don't have the hydraulic leveling system installed yet. Darol

Yes - claudia (caddygrn) will collect and they don't take plastic! I don't know what the fees are this year - last year they were around 15 per night.

I hate to do this, but I got a terrible cold last week that just won't go away. I figure the last thing I'd want to do is go to a rally and share it with everyone else , so I am very dissapointed to say we'll be skipping TL this year. Have fun everyone, and we'll see some of you July 4th in Vernonia!

Thanks. I did just notice Claudia was listed as the "Green-visor" team.

Steph, feel better. We'll miss getting to visit. Hey, your pretty close, just come by for the day if you're feeling better by Sunday or Monday.

Lambs!

I just went out to check on the animals and discovered another reason to stay home this weekend - surprise lambs! The first little critters born on our farm

Trout Lake Rally

HI Folks, Please be patient as I'm new at this website and haven't fiqured out the correct way of doing things yet. We are Morris and Phyllis Freeman. We have a 76 Overlander, 24 ft....I think....which led to us meeting Darol a few years ago. We just joined this forum a couple of weeks ago at Darols suggestion..Thank You Darol. I didn't post until now because we had a few things that needed attention on the trailer that would determine whether or not we would be able to attend this rally. We will get there some time Friday, early afternoon.......we hope. And probably stay until Sunday.

We're Gone

We should be arriving between 6:00 - 7:00 tonight, The truck looks like it is packed for Beverly Beach, mud flaps dragging. Janet has done her usual thing, Three cases of artichokes, a gallon or so of taziki, a case of pita, falafal for the masses. Sunday breakfast for 1000 people, come with a big appitite.
See you all when you arrive.

M & P, Glad you're going to make it. Be sure to bring your instruments and any roudy Aussie songs you may have picked up on your trip. This group likes "roudy"! I've gathered a couple more Ole & Sven jokes and might even try some poetry if there's enough wine. I'm planning to get going early Saturday AM - might even make the late breakfast group. Darol

It has been very quiet from the group at Area 33. I'm wondering if there's a bunch of empty Airstreams and aluminum hats laying on the ground, weird circles in the grass, and not a sign of any of them....

Either that or the potluck was so good they are still hunkered down to eat and not yet ready to communicate.

Hope all had a wonderful time. Got any pictures to share?

Barry

My camera seems to have been wiped clean. The memory is blank. We had an unusual (even for area 33) event.

The rally site was buzzed repeatedly by helicopters. We're not really sure why.... but every time one came near several of the rally goers ran for their trailers muttering about being found - again. I imagine that there were specialists with prying eyes in those choppers and that eventually the truth about the somewhat odd weekend will be told.

Personally I had a great time - I'm just not sure why I have surgi-tubing and several sterile drapes in my bumper box??

Rally notes for future:
65
Bring more bismuth violet
pita flys well
aluminum undies are no longer recommended
guard your toenails

Barry, We're all in recovery mode. Some are still trapped at the site. We had a brush with thunder and lightning on Saturday afternoon late, but no serious weather. After I got home today, I found out that Portland had the "best" thunder storm in a decade - and we missed it! There were 19 units in all including my new Retro Pod which I hope someone will post a photo of because I cannot. Lots of food, great live music, and more. Gary and Janet have done it again!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Hopefully, you can join this crazy group soon. When is the TCT thing in Deming? and are you going? Darol
