Marc, that is so bizarre that we were in the same spot. We hiked around on the beach at Deception Pass on Friday and did the tulips on the way back to camp. Then we did galleries and the grand opening of Camping World in Burlington.

It would have been fun for you to meet the other Airstream gang.

Poor Jim! That was the first thing I asked him too! We must all think he's accident prone (no, not Jim)!

Just kidding, a PFD is ALWAYS a good idea!

We will be there I just got home from Tacoma and my wife got the weekend off so we will be going, The only things I see left to bring are Peppers and Tomatos, I know nothing about peppers but I would happy to bring Tomatos. Also thought it would be a good idea to bring the makings for Rootbeer Floats if there would be enough interest for it, whats everyone think?

Glad you can come and be a part of the weekend. Rootbeer floats sound good, and you know any snackies for happy hour are great too.

We don't have a big coffee pot, but we do have a big air pot to keep the coffee warm - let me know if you want me to bring it along.

We just went down for a walk in the Estuary and hoped to finally meet the ranger and hosts to let them know we were going to camp there this weekend. The camp hosts were great, very kind and welcoming, but told us in no way can we reserves sites, its first come first serve. If we try to save sites the ranger will give us a citation and evict us from our spots. Wow, that sounds like a real friendly ranger. They pointed us in the direction of the rangers shop and said...."but it can't hurt to ask him."

We decided to take a walk through the estuary first and when we came back we chatted with the ranger. He explained that he thought there was nothing going on in town that would fill up the campground but..."its about equity." Because the reservation service doesn't start until May they try to accomodate everyone they can, but let them know that no reserving site is the only way they can make everyone happy. "But hey, we want you guys here, that would be great." So it looks like we will all be able to find sites, it just that we may not be able to camp right next to each other. I thought maybe CampCollector could butter him up, you know the ranger to ranger talk may bend his will, but I think this guy is pretty set on NO RESERVED SITES. As my husband reminded me, it doesn't really matter. We'll all be in one site hanging out anyway. (The ones with the biggest awnings or more fire dancers.)

Also just a reminder that they are fully hooked up sites: power, water, sewer. There are 10 tent sites that have no ammenities. Its $22 a night for the hook up sites and bring cash or a check book. They don't take credit cards until "all systems go" in May when reservations start.

Cool Campcollector has ways to reserve sites!!

Top ten ways to illegaly hold a site
10. The old lawn chair in the campsite trick. (Keeps honest people away)
9. Short lenght of hose hooked to the stand pipe and some blocks of wood
8. Registration receipts stolen from fee station and clipped to site marker. ( 80% effective)
7. 1 dozen empty beer cans thrown around and a old diaper in the fire ring smoldering. (keeps away the neat freaks)
6. Doberman tied to table on 25ft chain (self explanitory).
5. Tow vehicle parked in site to hold for a freind. (90% effective)
4. Caution tape and orange cones "do not enter" (only works if no hosts or staff on duty)
3. Two man tent set up in site and no one around. (flawless keeps people and staff guessing for hours ) Add grocery sack of rocks to table for authenticity
2. Sewage spill and lime spread on ground. (works but not reccomended for immediate use)
1. Chalked outline of human figure on ground and shell casings.

The ranger was seriously on some weird power trip yet he was nice as can be about it. (sarcasm intended) The host said that a group of canadians were in last week, there were four sites and they reserved one for a friend using the lawn chair trick. The ranger let them set up camp, waited until the "reserved site" camper got all set up, then the ranger cited them and evicted them. Nice huh?
