Sorry to miss the fun.....

Hey everyone,
Talked to the old man and it seems he has to work that friday, so won't be able to make it.....scare away the aliens for me in your foil hats!

We will be heading out the next weekend to Astoria for the wine and seafood festival. We like to stay at a cute little Rv Park at Sunset Beach (between Warrenton and Gearhart).
You can back right up to the little lake. Its a nice walk or bike ride over the dune to the beach...which you can drive on.
I don't think we will take the GT on the sand, but did go once with friends in a motorhome and cooked breakfast on the beach...

We plan on spending the next week and weekend touring around someplace.
If anyone is out and about the 1st week in may and would like to meet up,
let us know where??
Patsi

Just an update for everyone, I have that weekend off, so does Cortnie (daughter) just have to wait until Friday (4/14) for Debbie's (wife) schedule...she requested weekend off now just need to wait for her manager to write schedule. I have been getting the GT ready in anticipation.

I pm'd 64Lawncondo, she said they were going to think about it. PM'd 65globetrotter, a maybe, I let them know that there were going to be playmates for his kids there. After all he does need to come to the rally to show off his photo contest winnings. And I did get a message to Tin Can Luv, he said he may come for a visit on Saturday. But I know there are more NWstrners out there. We would love to see you at the rally. The food, company, music and storytelling are always great.

Hi Kathleen,

We got our packet yesterday - thanks so much! We're really excited about the local winery brochure...

Only two more weeks!

HEY KATHLEEN----------Thanks for the PM, but--------------
This is our bread and butter season here in Wasco, America and the odds of getting away are very slim. If it looks like we can sneak away we will....The MOHO is full of gas and it has been kicking at the shop door---I think it wants to hit the road...
I hope you guys have a great time and I hope it rains if we can't come----------JUST KIDDING!!!

It looks like our gathering is really shaping up:
Uberlanders
Janet/Janet's Husband
Jordandvm
3Ms75Argosy
C Johnson
Kintscher
Mel
Campcollector
Walker's Wanderer
Michelle the cello player with Aluminum colored tent

Maybes: 65glbtrotter, Wascobob, TinCanLuv

As far as what is left to bring.....check the lists on previous posts for the meals or bring stuff for happy hour.

We are also hoping one of our North Cascades members will be coming. We had a great time this weekend at the Tulip Festival with everyone. I was not as successful at cribbage this time though, I lost twice. Yikes!

Last night Jim and I decided to walk the dog in the estuary. We saw a beaver building a new structure as well as numerous tree victims. It was amazing to see that a small little creature could take down such large trees. Anyway the kids and adults at the rally will enjoy watching him work on his new home.

Also I found a new wine for all of us to try. Go to www.happycamperwines.com

I just got our care package from Karyn at Airstream of Spokane! Woohoo! She has truly spoiled us, we now have some kick a** door prizes as well as some Airstream catalogues for us to drool over.

Now have a yak to bring

I bought my first kayak today, a Pungo 120 Duralite by Wilderness Systems! It's loaded and ready to go! I tried a couple of yaks out in nearby waters and chose the lightest (39lbs) and easiest to car-top, as well as most stable in the water! I should get a great view of the beavers at work! There should be lots of laughs watching me launch it for the first time !

Also.......K, it that a Basecamp pic on the label of Happy Campers wine label?

Did you see the part on their site about posting pictures of Happy Campers enjoying Happy Camper wine? I think our mission is clear...

I don't think the basecamp is their inspiration on the label, it looks more like Wally's first trailer, but it is hard to say. My guess is that they had to make something some what original so no company came after them for copywrite infringement. But we plan to take lots of pictures of us drinking their wine in front of cool trailers. Maybe they will post us on their site, or better yet....send tshirts!

Jim, you should have a great view of the beavers from the water! He is right on one of the inlets.

How about...

I know we have one contest in order (wife is already planning our tin hats!), but how about having one for the best "$5.00 Wally plans?" I've been inspired by Kathleen's other post looking for the long lost orginal plans for a "do it yourself Wally trailer" (and have been looking for these plans myself without luck).

I think there may be some orginals out there yet!

Any free trailers to give away? (like, say, a 25ft CCD?)
Cheers! Great packet too! We'll be leaving hopefully around noon on that Friday. Can't wait to get there!

P.S. - Kathleen - I can't believe you were at the tulips last weekend! Somehow I must have missed this posting, as WE were camping up at Burlington that weekend as well. We did see the tulips on Saturday (c o l d and windy!!), and hiked around Rosario beach (near Deception Pass) on Sunday. We also went to Bellingham that evening to watch our friend and her troup do a bellydance show. What fun! Even the girls (who take belly classes from our friend) danced a bit.

Only bummer is that our trailer and van got stuck in the mud pulling out of our grassy campsite... took one 4x4 truck (that also got stuck and motor died) and a farm tractor to get us out! Whew - we might have been there till summer!
Sorry we missed you -
Marc

We're making our shopping/packing list and we are bringing shredded pork and spainish rice for Taco Night and ground coffee for Sunday breakfast, but we don't have a big coffee maker.

Does anyone else have one?

Are sugar and cream needed?

Marc, that is so bizarre that we were in the same spot. We hiked around on the beach at Deception Pass on Friday and did the tulips on the way back to camp. Then we did galleries and the grand opening of Camping World in Burlington.

It would have been fun for you to meet the other Airstream gang.
