Hogs and piglets

And of course I'll have some goodies from the oven. I need to go through my recipe file and make some decisions.

Even if you don't have a hog before, I'll bet there'll be LOTS of us feeling like little stuffed piglets after the potluck. Like Grandpa used to say when Mom would tell us to wait for everyone to be served before eating, "This family waits like one hog waits for another . . . LET'S EAT!!!"

I'm in, too. Who do we need to send the money to? Now, can we do Luau pig? No Ti leaves to wrap it in or volcanic rock to cook it in, dangit.

Never Tasted BBQ That We Did Not Like!

Mmmmmm... Gooooood! Count us in - we love BBQ in any form. Swine, bovine, fowl - it's all good. Empresley - are you willing to cook a whole pig/piglet? We'll gladly contribute to the cause. What the heck - get a pig - we love leftovers!

We'll keep following the posts - this is shaping up to be a great rally. We can't wait!

I've invited a friend to come up from Atlanta for a day trip on Saturday. He's looking forward to Open House hours on Saturday. It's a busy time for him as he'll be out of town the weekend prior and the weekend after Springstream. He hopes to stop by and see plenty of aluminum. He's considering buying an AS to spend time in both Florida and New Mexico. Don't know how much he actually wants to travel. Seems he justs wants to stay in either place for a few months at a time while keeping his house in Atlanta. Maybe seeing his reflection(s) will cause him to get the bug.

Nope, me neither, usually being the only vegetarian in the group. But I have a feeling we'll all be livin' high on the hog when it comes to food.

Alan, did you say "soy sausage"? Yum! I can fix you right up . . .

This "pot luck" thats shaping up happens on Sat? Bring enough to feed? And add to the list, where? Any tips, or what nots we need to know? Would be greatly appreciated.

*Yes, Sat. dinner (not sure exact hour)
*How much to bring? I think the rule of thumb (depending on size of group) is to bring a dish with at least 6 to 10 servings. This is what we tell new church members for monthly pot luck supper.
*How to add to list? There may be a quicker way, but I went back to the most recent post with the list of dishes & names. Highlight that list and right click to copy. Transfer by pasting into your new post where you will add to the list. If there is a better way someone needs to post how.
*Tips & what nots: this will be our first rally also but due to the relaxed flow of info. and planning I think the details will appear as the weeks go by and this thread grows.

hope this helps,
em.

I completely missed the title you added for this post. Cracked me up...I suspect most people do not know who Alton Brown is...but if you're like him, I will need to videotape 'cause tips, measurements, ingredients, warnings, and times will be flying out faster than a politician's explanation of how to use a budget surplus.

What kind of poetry?

See you in Hiawassee!

The Fourm Rallys tend to draw the best children in America. Children and pets are two of the ingredients for sucess.

Lat time we had loads of kids from babies to teens. It is gratifying to see younger families turn out for these events. Unfortunately unlike our local WBCCI which is not exactly kid friendly.

We have a 5 year old boy who will be attending with us. He had a great time at the Can Opener Rally a couple of weeks ago. It was our first rally so we didn't know how many children would be there, but there was a really good turn out and we all had fun! Hope to see you there!
