Not here?

Hey, ALANSD . . . you didn't really move to Alaska while we weren't looking, did you?

Alan, if you can please email me off list. I have something I need to send you.

I'm looking forward to some kick-back time, seeing old friends and meeting new ones, and even Mom is getting excited. We'll be there Tuesday late afternoon.
I still need to wash the outside. Do you wanna come help? I figured it would be easier if I do it in the rain this weekend! That way I only have to soap it down! Tee Hee!!!

Actually Kathy, I will probably have to wash it again, unless the rain this weekend knocks off the leftover pollen and frozen leaves. Hey, I'll help you throw some soap on yours. I'm sure there's a party in that somewhere.

We plan to be unhitched and set up by Tuesday evening. Hoping to take in Helen before the rally since we've never been there. Maybe swing by Top of Georgia and say a pre-rally "Hi" to Steelbird if possible. Who knows what else.

Question Directions from central Florida

I'm not one to travel Interstates highways unless forced so I plan on driving north on 441 from central Florida all the way to Hiawassee. Any recommendations on thing to see on the way or a good spot to spend the night about 1/2 way?

AlanSD, I guess this is as good a time as any to ask. We will be coming in Friday evening after I get home from work and coming from south of the ATL airport. I plan to take I-285 around the west side of town to avoid the Friday rush hour traffic on the connector and 400. I know you can go up I-75 to I-575, but I have never gone that way to Helen. Can you give me directions from I-75?

I'm sorry to hear that I was looking forward to meeting you! Our whole smoked turkey camping started in salt springs campground in the 70's with Dad making one on our Thanksgiving camping trips!

Good morning Tom, I have made the trip to N.Ga many times. This is what I would do if it were me:
Leave Fayetteville after 6:00p or before 3:00 to avoid rush hour madness. Yes, believe it or not, we live on the less-busy side of Atlanta.
Go straight thru Atlanta in the HOV staying on I-75 until I-575.
Follow I-575 until it turns into US76, and continue straight into Hiawassee on the same road. That gives you the least traffic and no mountains to pull over. Normally, about this time of year, the roads to Helen are filled with really stupid drivers trying to get out of town, then after spending an hour or more attempting to get thru Helen, you would still have GA75 across the mountain to Hiawassee. If you go the other way, you'll be unloaded and have had time for a couple of adult beverages in the same amount of time.

I think you might enjoy this.

At Dublin, Google driving directions to Hamburg State Park, that is a pretty nice place built around a lake. This is a very short off-cours jaunt. I'm not sure about reservations. You didn't need them a few years ago- you may now.

When leaving, get on 15 north until I-20, then just a very few miles to rejoin US441.

Thanks to all for the info about Perry. Our new home is just a couple of miles from the Fairgrounds, so we're looking forward to the goings-on.
