I have thought about that road side awning rail myself. I suspect that Airstream installs it as part of the structure of the trailer.
You could of course mount a full size awning on that side as well. That would give you maximum shade. I suspect most people would not want to sit on the side of the trailer with all the hookups.
Not an issue if you are boondocking.

Mounting a narrower awning on the road side lower than the original rail would give the awning the maximum coverage being lower and closer to the window tops. How much is the factor you'd have to figure on your own but someone had this in mind and went to a bit more work to fasten a second lower rail.

Road side awning

My road side awning is mounted to the factory installed rail at the seam. It really is nice to have for both sun and rain...and partial privacy without the blinds.

One reason not to tint the back window, is that most of the older airstreams were designed so the driver could look through their rear view mirror and through the back window. My old 1978 allowed a perfect view until I got the rock guard for the front. My current 1986 has a pretty good view, but the tinted rock guard makes it tough in most lighting conditions. My 2004 International 22 CCD did not allow any view because the rear window was too high.

There is a great posting on replacing original vents with Fantastic Fans listed under 1970 pictures. I would look it up. I replaced my front vent with a rain sensor vent and the back without. It works out really well since I can leave the vent open all summer and it closes automatically. It keeps that HotLanta heat from ruining anything. If only I could remedy the cold...

Looks like we will try to make it down from TN. Just have to get the new bamboo floor down, carpet the pilot area, mount and hook up the new Velvac mirrors, and install new twin beds in rear. Oh, allmost forgot, re-install the front windows, and curb side windows and new tracks, paint, etc!!!

Good thing I have it inside, just need to get some warmer weather so I can get the floor down!

Y'all are in for a treat. Mario brews the best around, the espresso is unparalleled. Starbucks doesn't even compete.

T-shirts

I decided to place the order for the T shirts yesterday they should be ready in two weeks I'll have to guess on the sizes for the ones not yet spoken for.

So if anyone is sitting on the fence it would help me to know what sizes you may need ASAP.

That Harry guy ain't real...

Don't worry about the north Georgia weather,
we finally found the missing magic Tail Feather.
No real secret stirring this pot, just a bit of lucky brew.
But under the table it is serious barometric voodoo.

Unless someone throws in a converse sneaker
and breaks the spell by being a non-believer
we should have unlimited ceiling.
Just a sec… we sense someone who ain’t believin’.

A little weather tampering is not exactly a crime
just pull your buddy’s finger & we’ll redo the paradigm.
Just remember we are a clan & will rally to tell the tale,
more than one has to stir the pot & add the hair of snail.

If we stick together and get the planets all aligned,
practice what we preach & keep the weather channel blind;
Hiawassee will be dry and ready for the really big show.

Just don’t squeal like a pig, there could be Springstream snow.

This rally is gonna do good no matter what happens. As much fun I had last year there it seems it can only get better and bigger from here on out.Now that your going to be having the pig roast and such that right there makes it top notch in my book. You all take a huge bite for me,Misty and Breanna.
Also from you Vegetarians,Alan and Sugarfoot.I know we are missing a great rally but we will see you all in the fall.
