Balancing Work and Play

I don't have any vacation days to devote to camping on the Antsy weekend so I need to camp within reasonable driving distance of Lawrencville. For that reason I'm 99.9% leaning toward Fort Yargo State Park.

A side benefit of Fort Yargo is its proximity to Athens. After the Antsy and Troubs show on Friday in Atlanta, Athens on Saturday night sounds like fun. The Terrapin Brewery Terrapin Beer Athens, Georgia Microbrew Ale Pilsner has tours and tastings on Saturday from 5:30 - 7:30.

Looks like there are plenty of sites available. Commit and we will reserve. Yargo is fine with us.

Looks like Hard Labor or Stone Mountain are closer. Let us know what you choose.

We are looking in to going. My sister lives about a mile from the cafe. We might stay with her. Would love to be camping if we can swing it.

Wow Brad, I thought you graduated from High School already....... Never too late to start.

I'll be flying between Key West and LA that weekend. Nothing like work.

The Post Antsy Show Party & Crash Pad

All dressed up and no where to sleep it off?

I think Brad's house would be a great place to "just show up".

After the show we will need to wind down.
After a HS game they will need to get wound up.

em.

ps Brad, don't go to any trouble. We will bring some napkins.

Fort Yargo State Park

I made a reservation at Fort Yargo State Park. Going there is sort of like camping in the back yard since it's close to work and relatively close to home. But it will give us a chance to check out the new air conditioner and fridge. Both units died recently.

Any interest in a road trip to Terrapin Brewery on Saturday? EM, I hear they have a good pale ale. Brad, even though you have a game on Friday why not go camping with us? Danielle and I will be arriving on Wednesday after work. You could join us for a few days and still go to the game on Friday. Sort of a last-minute end-of-summer-thang!

We have our site at Yargo. We still need to get our tickets to the concert.

Road trip sound great. How far is it from the park?

I'll ask some others.

Ticket Prices?

Hello Matt and Beth,

We're looking forward to seeing you at the campground and others at the campground and/or the show. I think it's going to be fun.

Regarding ticket prices. We called to buy tickets and, as Empresley indicated, there are $15 and $20 prices. I'm a little confused about whether it's necessary to pay the higher price. However, Danielle and I are interested in seeing the first artist as well as Antsy and the band. Without going into all the details... we decided to pay the $20 since it appears the first artist will receive some of that money and Antsy & Troubs will end up with the balance.

Gotta go now... the custom airbrush guy is almost finished with the "D luvs L" front license plate.

Lucius

oops! Athens and the brewery is 30+ minutes from the campground.

Smoked Pork for Lunch/Dinner?

I'll plan to make a hickory smoked porked butt and bring it to the campground with us. I'll smoke it at home and re-heat it as needed for the weekend.

Danielle and I are planning to eat dinner Friday at the Red Light Cafe. I have not really thought about the detailed time of day yet but it'll be sometime before/during the first act. If you're attending the show (whether you're camping or not) and want to eat at Red Light let us know so we can get together... er rendezvous - Red Light Rendezvous!

We are on. I will make the reservation and be there. We will be coming back from Amity COE at West Point so we might just drag the AS straight to Ft Yargo since we live out of it anyway. We are looking forward to seeing his act live.

So much temptation - so little time, even for a little thang. That weekend we have the football game, a high school band parade (the East Cobber), my brother and his wife visiting from out of town, studying for my GED, and of course - beer.

Feel free to use our facilities here. We'll leave room in our driveway and if that fills just use our neighbors' yards - they probably won't mind. Martin's got napkins, so I'll leave beer in the refrigerator.

Lucius,

I had the same guy come out to do a license plate for me, but Karen made me take it down - she wanted to know who "D" and "L" were. Besides, shouldn't it be "L luvs D"?

Inquiring minds

Hey... maybe we can switch tags. We acquired a B luvs K tag at a garage sale a while back and we've been waiting to find a suitable home. When we saw it we just had to buy it because the colors were so good - it's serious artistry, signed and everything! We even considered changing our names to match the tag but the name changin' office down at the courthouse has been slammed.

So hold on to that tag and we'll do the same. Next time we see you we'll swap tags.

Regarding which comes first the D or the L. I think it depends on who's driving the car. If there's only one car involved you may even need to consider a quick-swap tag gizmo.

I Forgot About Football!

Danielle reminded me to give some consideration to college football for the weekend of this rally. Two particular games I need to be mindful of this particular weekend. - U of So. Fla. and U of GA.

First, USF is playing U of F for the first time ever. It's a noon game so that leaves plenty of time late sleeping after the Anty & Troubs event. That also leaves plenty of time to get over to Athens if we decide to visit the Terrapin Brewery.

Just a reminder that USF beat FSU last year in Tallahassee. I'm not saying that will happen against UF but hey... stranger things have happened.

Second, UGA is playing at South Carolina so that means Athens should be relatively free of heavy traffic if we decide to visit the Terrapin Brewery.

So there you have it - Antsy & Troubs, college football and factory tours. Anything else we should add to the list of activities? Oh yeah, smoked pork butt - lunch or dinner on Saturday?

I'm Hungry!

Danielle and I smoked the pork butt yesterday. Mmmmm.... it tastes reeaaalllly good! I'll freeze it so it will be easy to heat when we want it for the weekend. We're also going to make some cole slaw for the camping trip too. I know it's still two weeks to go but I'm excited! Could you tell?
