Thank you, donh1.
I recall someone telling us we needed to go thru Johnson City, which we did.....might have been you.
Hope you can all make it in the Spring.

Welcome to Airstreaming. It is nice to see we are neighbors. We live in Pfafftown. I am sure you are going to love your new trailer and the Airstreaming experience. Alumalina is great rally and is a wonderful way to meet many nice folks. We look forward to seeing you in March.

John, NO NO NO NO - we have not got used to missing any of the 4 feet that we've lost in our 'downsizing'! However, we love the newness, the wider layout and the brightness of the new rig. We have an alert with the campground in case there is a cancellation. I hear what you're saying about watching the thread here and going through you/will keep all that in mind if a spot opens up. Thanks for putting us on the waitlist. If not this year, we'll try next year - and we'll try to remember to start checking for the announcement for this rally sooner in the year!!

Hi, guys! We're wannabees, coming down from Lincolnton, NC. I realize that the park is full, but are there any decent boondocking or Wallydocking places reasonably close that would accommodate a 36ft fifth wheel?? I'd love to have the opportunity to meet some folks and gain some wisdom before we "take the plunge" into the Airstream world. Worst case, we'll drive down for the day and return back that evening.

I did a Google Search for campgrounds nearby. There are several:

Hey northmeck, hope it will work out for you guys to join us. Paula did some homework on area CG's, and we will put you on the waiting list too. Keep an eye on the thread and the Park website.
We are expecting 50+ rigs, so a bonanza for Airstream sightings.
BTW, I am just down 321 from you in York.
John

Sandlapper,
WOW looks like the Alumalina Spring 2015 is running WIDE OPEN with a full house! What FUN!!!!!
Quick update- We just bought a 1991 Excella, 25 ft a few days ago. The Mrs. wanted a larger nest as our home base when we start visiting some different forest around the country in 2015.
Up off the Blue Ridge Parkway this morning it is 14 degrees, I had to get into the sun quick this morning to warm up. But don't be concerned, the Wilkes County creek water did not freeze last night.
John, I knew it was cold this morning when I saw a beagle with a set of jumper cables trying to jump start a rabbit. Now that is COLD.
See ya soon.

Chuck,
It still seems like a lot of black trailers on the map. Maybe some will turn silver soon. Hopefully some will cancel before the event and we will fill the park with silver.
Do you know if the park keeps a waiting list?

By the way, I would love to know what type of heater you use, other than your furnace. Thanks! Beth

John,
Congratulations on the new Excella! You'll definitely enjoy the extra room when you venture out for a month or two at a time. 25' is still short enough to work for most state and national park campgrounds. Even with our 27' only twice have we changed sites (one state park, one national park) because we were too big.

Henry,
I don't think the park keeps a wait list. At previous Alumalina gatherings at Lake Wateree I seem to recall that everyone who wanted to come was able to get in by taking advantage of cancellations. Susan and I had to cancel for the Spring 2014 Alumalina and we transferred our site to another rally attendee directly (outside the reservation system).
I encourage those people waiting for a site to check the Wateree reservations website every few days and keep watching this thread. If anyone already has a reservation, and has to cancel, please let us know on this thread so someone on the wait list can connect directly with you and arrange to transfer the site.
