We are way over the magic number of 125 and are excited by the number of folks that are interested in coming. The popularity of Alumalina is made possible only by the great folks that attend.

I am working on a plan to get more of us into the Cove, but it only has a set number of sites.

In the mean time, it is very important for everyone to look over the list, make sure I do not have you down twice.

Since we live so close to Palmetto Cove, we would like to give up our campsite to someone on the waiting list. We still want to attend the great rally, but we will simply commute. Hope that will help a little.

We are working on it. There is plenty of room out there. The hang up is DEHEC.

They require a dedicated dump station with a certain amount of concrete surrounding it, and water for rinsing.

The Cove actually started work towards one last year at our request...the tank is already there, out in the field, just need the concrete and I suppose water. A large motorhome (not one of ours) accidentally drove over the tank cover, putting the plans on hold. BTW, the tank cover is that dog house looking thing out in the big field. How it was run over is beyond me.

With the numbers we are putting up, I am hoping to get that project restarted and hopefully offer dry camping. We could daisy chain water, the Cove has about 90 lbs pressure, and by the end of October no AC should be needed.

Mr. Sandlapper,
I have just returned to the edge of the mountain forest and checked the Air Forums and saw the Fall Alumalina thread. What happened, there were 153 signed up to attend Alumalina? I was feeling pretty good with my gathering up a nice herd of possums for the 125 units? Having to add another 28 possible additional units will really stress my mountain supply line unless we can get Capt. Hank and his crowd to help bring up some swamp possums?

The dilemma I have is I have few chances to get fresh road kill because where I live in deep in the mountain forest there are only fire lane and game trails. It would take a really slow possum to become a road kill on a game trail.

I will not panic on gathering live fresh possums for Alumalina, but I will be working day and night finding live possums.

King Possum, I will not let you down, remember I give a HOOT.

I have good news to report. We will be able to offer dry camping at the Cove for our rally. First time ever there.

They have set the fee at $15/night. Seems fair. The full hook up sites are $25.

Their only stipulation is we fill the regular sites first.

So, here's the plan. TO BE FAIR TO ALL.....

Those 125 folks that signed up first will get the full hook up sites. We will have a list, and hold your site, until 6pm Friday.

If you are 126 or above, we will need to put you in the dry camp area until the 6pm time frame on Friday. Then, any open sites will be made available based on a first come basis.

Late October it is highly unlikely you will need AC. Maybe furnace.

We can daisy chain the water.

There will be a dump station.

There are no bath houses at the Cove, only restrooms.

We will simply add another row in the big field for the dry camp, so if you are in that row you are still in the thick of things. Take a look at the movie Florida 55 has posted a few pages back, it shows the layout of the Park.

If you have never dry camped, DO NOT BE AFRAID!!! Airstreams are designed for it better than any other brand.

A suggestion is to arrive with a full fresh water tank, and empty grey and black tanks. And full propane. We will guide you through it. Quiet generators would of course be welcome. You will very likely find out how easy it is and how many more great camping spots/opportunities dry camping opens up.


Depending on how many actually show up, we may not even need dry camping but having the option means we are no longer limited to 125 rigs, all are welcome and the more the merrier. We are excited about setting a new record for attendance.

We do have meals to plan for so it is always good to have a head count so please post that you are coming if you have not already done so.
