Murphy was an optimist...

Marie went to pick up the custom cake a little while ago. While I haven't seen it myself, she says the bakery did such a horrible job on it, they ended up giving her the cake. I guess we will have to get everybody drunk before we let them see it. She picked up an extra half gallon of vodka to help everyone get past the cake.

Rotten Bakery! Anyway, Bertha is loaded, Sophie has been groomed, just waiting for the delivery guy from out of ODM, get him showered, hook up Bertha and we should be out of here by 4:30 and on our way. Some one keep Murphy busy (drininking is ok), and we should be there 6:30ish.

Can't wait!!

Wow, 11 trailers here already, by my count. And, it's only Thursday!

Cherry cobbler at 7pm at Sandlapper's tents. Bring a bowl and spoon.

Will arrive around noon. Anyone who needs a brand new Model 6000 Fantastic Fan, I'll have two at the swap meet. Took two of them out of "Silver Leaf" and upgraded to MAXX fans with remote controls (OK, I'm lazy).

Looking forward to meeting everyone...though I'll be out of the mix for a couple of hours Friday night as my grandson lives in Charlotte -- and we're celebrating his 6th birthday. Can't miss that!

We're here, and already met some nice people. I have a couple of orders that I'll be personally delivering tomorrow. We introduced Maggie to Mudslides...

Ummm, yes.

Delicious, scrumptious, absolutely delightful. Kind of like a chocolate-creamy slushy.

More than I could/should drink at a time, hubby and others helped.

Lots of very nice folks already here. Going to be a terrific and fun weekend.

Everybody seems to be having too much fun to post here. Yesterday we had a small plumbing issue with Bertha, and a couple of people with either new trailers, or new to them trailers, had some issues with teething problems. We got everyone straightened out in time for happy hour and the chicken bog (tasted pretty good for roadkill). I am going to be doing a couple of quick seminars, and we'll be doing round-robin repair sessions afterward. With any luck, the rain and storms that blew through overnight won't continue while we're trying to go around this morning. Flea market around noon, open house(s) after that, followed by the fish fry/pot luck.
John will be giving a total rig count later, we had a couple more rigs show up kind of late last evening.

There's just something about watching a bunch of Airstreams getting pounded into scrap metal by hail that ruins the appetite.
While it wasn't that bad, we've had two hail storms roll through here in the last hour or two. We managed to partake of the fish fry between them, and hopefully the hail, at least, has subsided for the immediate future. There wasn't any real damage from the storms so far, but nerves have been frayed a bit. Marie had all she could do to keep Barry (bab) from running out in the storm and throwing himself over his brand-new trailer to try to minimize any damage.
After some bad storms, there is a rainbow. Here is a photo I took on my cell phone of one, as well as a photo of the official cake:

looks great...at lunch today out of the blue a lady next to me mentioned that she was a Sandlapper. She explained what it means, ans I explained about Airstreams.
Then we saw a 345 Moho on the way home..must have been a sign.

Well, from our perspective, one of the best gatherings ever, in spite of the periodic storms.

Driving rain and hail on an Airstream roof is a unique experience, but luckily no damage.

John & Susan, with their boys, really planned this out and worked to insure all were well taken care of.

Lots of nice folks from near and far, good food and plenty to drink. Mudslides courtesy of Terry, wine courtesy of several and Jameson&Ginger courtesy of Doug.

The potluck last night included New England clam chowder and fresh, steamed clams!

Special thanks to Terry, too, whose sage words of wisdom and advice were invaluable.

Thanks to all for the great weekend.

Travel safe,

Doug & Maggie
