This is Bob and Rosa #104 on the list. We are really looking forward to the October Rally! If we get there a day or two in advance will that be a problem, do we need to advise the park in advance?

Howdy there folks, we are really looking forward to having you with us in October. Come on in whenever you want, no need to make any advanced reservation with the Campground, we will all settle up later.
Late October in the Blue Ridge Mountains will be spectacular and well worth the extra days. Leaves should be awesome, days pleasant, nights cool, hospitality unbeatable. You will like it.

Plans changed - must cancel
Yesterday a spot opened in the 2018 Gone To Texas rally that we were wait-listed for. It overlaps with Alumalina so we must cancel. Good luck and have a great time.

Looking Forward to First Ever Aluminum Gathering
John:
Wife Lisa, daughter Hope (10), would like to join you and the others for our first ever organized camping adventure of any kind. Scott Whitmire was working on our camper last year and I made a quick visit after the sun went down to get an idea of what to expect this year. I really enjoyed Scott's vintage movie too! We can't wait to join you. Thank you in advance for adding us to your list of guests!

Also a first timer for rally.
What, if any, differences should I plan for or bring, as compared to a single space 4 day camping trip?
I am thinking extra water hose, for example, if the water bib is further away.
Also, do you get packed in where you can't or don't want to get your TV out---so plan to bring all groceries with you?
At this event will there be a lot of vendor booths, scheduled panel discussions, and so forth, to attend, or is a day more like chill around your camper, walk around and chat?
Really looking forward to seeing all the Airstream coaches in one place!

We attended last year and will be there again this year. There were several scheduled "classes" on useful information which you can attend, like "how your brakes work", "traveling to Alaska", "boondocking", "basics of setting up an AS", "latest updates on the AS Wally Byam official membership club", etc...very good topics. There was (will be again, I hope) a "craft beer" event where folks swapped their favorit beers...(i will be bringing some from my son's Hi Sign Brewery in Austin, again)...there are planned breakfasts and dinners...a margarita happy hour, and all sorts of stuff...one of the local dealers brought out a new AS for folks to see...you can choose to participate or just hang out with new friends...it's a lot of fun.
Many of us had TV's but most everyone I saw was chilling with new friends...
All I would bring outside of your normal camp gear is some extra Opossum sauce...that goes pretty fast at the BBQ!

Dear John.... LOL
I am presenting a new idea, at least for me. As my SOB (Some other brand) is not going to be delivered to me by the Alumalina Rally.... and, as I am only about 2 hours away..... I am wondering if I can come down on Friday, stay for the Friday night stuff, and overnight in a nearby motel? Then I would hang around for the possum fest, back to the motel for another night and head home on Sunday.
I think I missed Alumalina last year and do not want to miss two in a row. Just let me know, John. Be happy to cover the expenses for a "day person".
Thanks

Hey- just wondering...why your not bringing an AS to an AS rally? Isn't that what this event is for....ASers? Curious AS minds want to know....

Gypsydad laid it out nicely. A couple more thoughts....
We will all be parked Rally style...meaning side by side, back end to back end, in rows, everyone with their own hook ups at the rear of the trailer, on grass, mostly flat and level. The ''streets'' are paved.
There is plenty of room to open up your awnings, set up your camp, and your TV will not be locked in, you can park right in front of your trailer or we have some extra parking space available as well. There is plenty of room to move around, accessibility is easy.
No extra equipment necessary, just the usual stuff you already carry. Camping World is on the premises if you forget something.
As for groceries and provisions, we will be providing a Thursday night hot dog feast, a Friday morning continental breakfast, Friday night possum bog (not to worry, tastes just like chicken), and a Saturday night fish fry. Saturday morning breakfast is a pot luck, everyone contributes. 2 miles away is civilization with a big grocery store, Lowes, and restaurants.
We have the use of the humongus pavilion, where we will offer seminars, displays, movies, crafts, flea market and a central gathering point. We will have lots to do or you may just want to hang out....it is all good.
Looks like we will likely have 250-300 Airstreams on site so plenty of eye candy and treatment for alumanitus.
We are finalizing details and very soon we will post the schedules and the details, so stay tuned. You will also get a paper copy in your rally packet. No one will be left guessing, we will take excellent care of you.
You will like it.

Tommie, come right on, glad to have you any way you can make it. We have had folks do the motel thing several times. The Marion location is not isolated like the other venues and should have multiple choices for staying over. Sure beats staying home.

Well yes, pretty close. We have always welcomed everyone to Alumalina, how better to introduce a non streamer to the world of silver. In the past 11 gatherings there have only been a couple and we love them as well. Who knows, they may be in an Airstream now, parked right beside you.

A very welcoming bunch indeed. We showed up to an Alumalina (Wateree) in a home built camper and were made to feel like family. This year, we'll be in an Airstream .
