Thanks to John, Susan, Terry, Annie & everyone who put together this rally. We really enjoyed meeting other Airstreamers & we loved the location. We really appreciate everyone's commitment to make this happen. It was a great event & we look forward to next year!

A few pictures from Alumalina Fall 2015

First a big thank you to John and Susan, Terry and Annie and all the others who worked so tirelessly so that everyone else could have such a great time.
Hard to capture the moment in photos but here are a few.

First one is of the Possum Bog Crew
Second and third are on Saturday afternoon with all that aluminum shining in the sun.
Last one is coming home today in the rain on Table Rock Road. Wow are the leaves getting pretty.

Had a great time and look forward to our next gathering.

John, Susan, Terry and Annie,
From your smiling faces greeting all, packets for all filled with information and goodies, your always making sure everyone has a great time, the outstanding seminars, the fabulous food inc. breakfasts, Thurs. hot dogs and more, Fri. BOG (orchestrated by famous Ronnie Buddin) then Sat. shrimp, crabs and fish (wow), the great sides brought by many, what wonderful meals, all the gatherings around the campground and campfires, the raffles and all the prizes so many won, the many new friends and renewing of old acquaintances and friends, the spectacular weather and fall color, the casual and fun community. That is what it is all about. You made it special for each and everyone (almost 250 happy attendees). Thank You!

Mr. Sandlapper & Susan,

What a great weekend to be with you, Terry and Annie and two hundred plus of our Airstream friends. THANK YOU. The Palmetto Cove was a great camping location and the weather and view were 100% plus.

For the record Ronnie, Henry, Jay and cook crew had just enough possums for the bog. I was worried that I did not bring enough possums for the northern part of the Blue Ridge Parkway? It was noted that all of the possum bog was gone by nights end, enough said.

The Saturday night fish fry was excellent and plenty for everyone. But Rita out performed herself this year. I believe she was the hostess with the most on
Saturday afternoon during 5 o'clock somewhere(Jimmy Buffet).

The rally was over to quick for some of us but we look forward to seeing everyone's photos of the event. The Mrs. and I are back up on the mountain just off mile marker 231 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Good news, I did see a couple of junior size possums crossing the parkway today, so there is seed animals for the next Alumalina.

King Possum take care of yourself and have a great winter and we will see you at the Canopener in January.

Remember we give a HOOT.

Anne and John

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and tours during the open house. Your stories about how you found your Airstream and what you've done to it and where you have been are fun and inspiring to hear. Safe travels and thanks again.

Favorite photos

Golly, if we are going to see photos.....I am posting some of my favorites.

Alumalina_2015_10.24.15-18 by Tommie Lauer, on Flickr

Of course, as has been stated, so many thanks to all who did the work...from the generals to the worker bees...thanks!

And, I plan on posting a photo of a pet each day until I run out...LOL

If I am able to attend the next Alumalina, I am hoping we can have a pet photo session, held during an afternoon. I love to photograph pets....so much more reasonable than humans....LOL....

Still in recovery mode here...

.....just finished unloading the truck tonight, found some dirty dishes in the pile.

I have much to share but still need a day or two yet to get it together.

The short story:

118 rigs....short ones and long ones, , old ones and new ones

19 states....all over the place

app 275 of the finest people on the planet.

300 hot dogs consumed...( that's 150' of hot dogs)

20 lbs pinto beans (you thought that smell was black tanks dumping)

6 possums (would have been 8...2 escaped)

10 gallons of margaritas....Rita sends her thanks

too much single malt (tasted really good at the time)

Perfect weather, perfect location.

Perfect event.

There are many people to thank. More later.

This was our first Alumalina and I can attest it was the best rally/convergence we've ever attended...and John (sandlapper) deserves accolades more than anyone (although there were many others behind the scene who deserve praise as well). His humor and "down home" manner made everyone feel welcomed, comfortable, and valued for their participation. As he said, "it's the people that make the event, the Airstreams are a means."

Thanks John from Kathy and me for a wonderful time!

John,

Once again a terrific rally!. It is hard to believe you've gone from the first Alumalina only four short years ago, with only a handful of Airstreams, to staging two Alumalina rallies per year attracting 118 Airstreams from around the country. This year the weather was perfect, the fall leaves were beautiful, and events were enjoyed by all. It was great to see so many Airstream friends gathered in one location. A weekend of fun, friendship, and fellowship is hard to beat anytime.

I'm in the middle of editing the video for the event. The drone aerial shots of the campground are spectacular. I have enough video and photographs to make a 2 hour film so choosing only 6-7 minutes worth of material presents a real challenge. In addition I've got to find appropriate music for the soundtrack (suggestions welcomed). It will probably be sometime next week before I'll be putting the finished film on YouTube, AirForums and Facebook.

Here's a preview of the video to come:
