I'm glad you asked......

Hey Paula, we are certainly on a roll!!

I am eager to post details, and will very soon. We have some really good stuff planned.

Most of the meals will include at least some potluck.

We have some great, new seminars planned, and lots of things for the kids, too. We are especially glad to have so many of the next generation of Airstreamers coming.

And Rita is very excited to be coming and visiting with her old friends.

Stay tuned for MORE.

Hey, John. Sitting in my trailer in Myrtle Beach now.

'Possums seem to be under control, but I was wondering if you've spoken with Mother Nature yet. Hopefully you can put in a good word.

Phil, Sue, Cheryl, Gus, Roger and Penny.

Phil, I have been in contact with Mother on a regular basis. She is definitely coming to Alumalina but will not commit just yet on what she will be wearing....too early yet to make a decision she says.

I have promised her that we will all be on our best behavior, and we would love to see her in her beautiful blue dress with the red, yellow, and green trim.

Fingers crossed she is listening.

Myrtle Beach...ahhh. Supposed to be hot today; here's a selfie on the beach this morning about 10:30, and the breeze is good. Wearing my Georgia Airstream Camper shirt (thanks to Alan who set it up).

Hoping to be of help with mics and pa gear for the Rally and seminars.

I presume Strike Four (PizzaChop) will set up and play and maybe I can join in too. I know I'll enjoy jamming with Bill too (I promise I'll bring my own guitars this time).

Phil

6 weeks to blast off, time to get things started...

We will post specifics later, and everyone will receive a printed copy as part of their rally bag, but here are some things to help get the planning started.

We will have a schedule, and plenty of things to do, but absolutely nothing is required, EXCEPT that you have fun. The schedule is only for a suggestion.

Palmetto Cove is a member owned, not for profit park. They always have several hosts on duty. The parking fee is $25 per night, paid to the Palmetto Cove with cash or check. All are full hook ups, 30 and 50a. It is rally style parking, meaning side by side, back to back, in a row. Very unique, very Airstream.

You may park anywhere, the Cove hosts will help spot you in the site. The Cove was built origianlly as an Airstream only park back in the 70's, when most all Airstreams had rear baths. All hookups will be at the rear corner of your rig. That means if your dump valve is in front of your tires, and you have a long trailer, a 20' sewer hose may be helpful.

You can make a pull thru out of the site by simply pull through 1 site into the other.

more good things to know....

We plan to use the covered pavilion for as many activities as possible. It is a great asset to the rally. Plan on most group activities to be there. It has some picnic tables, grills, rocking chairs, and a very nice, comfortable lounge in one end with a kitchenette.

It also has a big, rock fireplace and the Cove even furnishes the firewood. No open ground fires are permitted but the fireplace is plenty large enough if you want to do some dutch oven cooking or roasting.

Next door to the Pavilion is the meeting hall. It has a kitchen with 2 stoves, a large griddle, 2 refrigerators, 2 sinks, and a freezer. It also has tables and chairs for app 125 people. We have full access to it also, and it may be handy if you have a potluck dish to prepare.

It would be good to have a chair with you.

More details later on the meal plan.

some more good things to know....

The Cove is somewhat isolated, no big box/grocery stores nearby. There are limited supplies in ''downtown Cleveland''. No supplies at the campground, not even ice.

There are no emergency services around the corner, so please TAKE CARE TO STAY SAFE.

The Cove has good wifi, somewhat poor cell service.

There are many State Parks in the area that provide many opportunities for paddling, hiking, fishing, biking. There is a list available in the office. There is a great winery just down the road.

Our good friend Rita will be there again Saturday afternoon. Those of you that have met Rita know what she likes, and we once again solicit any help to keep her happy. We have some of her favorite on hand but not nearly enough. In case you have not made her acquaintance, or have perhaps forgotten, she likes cheap Tequila and that green stuff. She welcomes all comers.

Hello John and all our Alumalina friends.

Patty and I can now predict with reasonable certainty that we will be able to join the fun...who could resist? See y'all there.

I'm on a roll now....

Seminars. We have some new ones this time we think you will enjoy.

1. Personal safety while traveling/camping. Lead by a retired sheriff's deputy, he knows his stuff.

2. Fire safety in you trailer or motorhome. Lead by a retired Charlotte firefighter, he also knows his stuff.

3. TPMS....Tire pressure monitoring systems. Tires are perhaps the most important component on your rig, it pays to keep up with them.

4. Hospice Care...lead by a not retired hospice nurse. Good opportunity to find out about this very special service. She will also be offering blood pressure checks.

5. ''Just what is this WBCCI thing?''. Lead by yours truly, an open discussion on the Wally Byam Caravan Club International, the official club for Airstream owners. Bring your questions, I will find someone to answer them.

6. WBCCI officer installations. Open to EVERYONE, member or not. Come join us, see part of the Club's ''business''. You will be pleasantly surprised.

There may be others, and we will have specific times and locations posted for everyone later, and also included in you rally pack. All of the presenters are rally attendees, looking to share their vast knowledge...except for me, no vast knowledge here, but still looking to share what little I have.

the meal plan....

Thursday evening is the HOT DOG FEAST. I have 300 really good, premium hot dogs, and homemade chili. We will need buns, chips, condoms, slaw, relish, deserts, anything you would like to throw in there. Airstreamers are not picky eaters.

Friday am we will provide continental breakfast. Might not fill you up but will prevent you from being hungry. If you would like to throw something in by all means please do.

Friday lunch will be own your own....we can't feed you all your meals!!!

Friday night is the ever popular, almost nearly famous Possum Bog, a meal in itself. If you are new, not to worry, it tastes just like chicken. We could use any sides, or deserts, or anything at all you'd like to contribute.

Saturday breakfast is ALL POTLUCK. Is is famous, and bountiful, so please bring your specialty to share, it is a big crowd.

Saturday's lunch is also on your own.

Saturday night is our very special FISH FRY. Restaurant grade, fillet white fish, shrimp, devil crabs, hush puppies, french fries. All professionally prepared and served by my good friend Charles. We will need slaw, salads, deserts, anything you would like to contribute.

Sunday breakfast will also be provided continental.

Please be sure to bring your own tableware and drink of choice to each meal.
We will provide coffee each am.

Bits and pieces....

Friday night is open mic night, so bring it on. Don't be shy.

Everyday, somewhere, at some time, is HAPPY HOUR. Be social, you are among friends.

We have some very gracious sponsors who have contributed to the rally. You will receive a list, with their contact info, and hopefully follow up after the rally with a Thank You note. We will once again have wonderful door prizes.

Remember also that every rig gets to participate in the door prize drawings, it is NOT necessary for you to bring anything but you are certainly welcome to.

New this year, we have something special for the gamblers out there. A 50/50 raffle, and we also have a couple other super cool items that we will raffle off. Money collected will help pay for some of the rally expenses, and allow us to have all this fun at a bargain...cheap thrills.

And speaking of money....

we will have a $25/rig rally fee to cover the fish fry and a few other things. That's $25 per RIG, a real bargain. Unless you come by yourself. Then, just consider yourself to be helping to subsidize your neighbor's family of 4 to a real Airstream adventure. Someone will be available at each meal for you to 'fess up. The parking fee will be paid to the Cove, after you get settled in. The parking crew will note your site to help you remember when you go in to the office to pay.

I am a 2 finger typer (both are tired), a terrible speller (never could spell), it is Friday night(thank goodness), I am home alone (Susan is out with her pals, some man-time for me), and I am thirsty.

Time for a sip of good single malt.

to be continued.......

Ron and crew are on the list Dave, but probably can't make it in until sometime Saturday. I took the liberty of offering them a weekend off since it will be so short for them.

We do have a special performance lined up for the evenings though.

Not scheduled for entertainment but we'll most likely bring some acoustic stuff for around campfire and maybe some Sunday afternoon/evening melodies as we plan to arrive Saturday and depart Monday. (Phil, I gotta show you the vocal harmonizer I've acquired....absolutely killer! )

Ron, a vocal harmonizer? I thought that would be called a duet! Looking forward to seeing you guys again, along with 150 of my distant friends.

Sitting in the shade enjoying the Myrtle Beach weather (77 & sunny).

Looking forward to Alumalina Fall 2015

Hi John,

My wife Mary and I are traveling in the Carolinas in October are hoping to attend the Fall edition of Alumalina this year in Cleveland if there is still room. It comes highly recommended by our Region 1 friends Dorsey and Bruce Beard, Bonnie (a/k/a Vanna) Hogan, and Greg Desnoyers who have attended your Spring event!

Unfortunately, Mary and I won't be able to make our way to Palmetto Cove until Oct 23. Please let us know if that's OK?

All the best.
