We still have a ways to go to hit capacity, but just in case, we are working on an overflow plan that will work very well.

The Cove is member owned/non profit, and they are thrilled to have us coming. They are one of the best kept secrets in campground circles. I am certain they will work very hard to accommodate us. They have a wonderful facility there for everyone to enjoy, and they come at no cost to our rally.

I will very soon be posting my almost famous ''some good things to know'' list that will help everyone with their planning.

And... just a little sneak peek... we have some new seminars that should be of interest to many, especially the ladies.

Nice looking truck. I'm not a big fan of 1/2 ton trucks towing anything bigger than about 24', but it will certainly do it. The capabilities of the newer so-called "1/2 ton" trucks is awesome. Hope a violin is coming to the Rally as well. Phil in gorgeous Young Harris, Georgia, USA.

My wife and I are planning on buying our first camper this year. In grueling process of selecting a suitable tow vehicle now. Been fun, like snorting glass powder. We have 8 month old daughter and two year old son. Thought about letting them and our German shepherd, Chena, stay with my folks one night and riding down one day.

First of all, don't want to be presumptuous. Is owning an Airstream a requirement to attend? No hard feelings if so, perhaps we will make it next year. The ability to speak with some folks in person about their Airstreams, tow vehicles, travels, would be most rewarding at this point in our journey.

My parents bought a new Airstream Classic 30-34' about 15 years ago and kept it oceanfront (25 feet) at Apache Campground in North Myrtle Beach for 3-4 years. They bought a home in Southport after selling the Airstream back to dealer in Greensboro.

While I loved their Airstream, they never towed it anywhere, and consequently their experience prepared me poorly for my plans with ours. We cancelled our TV and home phone last year and want to keep things simple with our kids. Buying an Airstream is an investment in their future you might say. Country is chock full of kids that play video games and watch TV all day. Yet can't look another person in the eye when they talk. It's a hot mess, truly.

Our plans are for 1-2 weekend trips a month in the Smokies where we spend lots of time anyway. Honey mooned in Bryson City after being wed on Bald Head Island. Good luck driving further without leaving NC. Ha. We fly fish lots and take our whitewater raft to Johnson City and Bristol, Tenn. Mountain biking in Tsali near Bryson City, floating and fishing Tuckasseegee.

Took Dan III up to Tweetsie few weeks back in Boone. Kayaking or canoeing the New River. Tent camping all over trying to recreate the magic of my parents red/white VW van when I was 3-4 years old. Lived in Winston then and they took me camping all over the Smokies, Elkmont, Smokemont, etc.

The Smokies were made for family time. Also, big priority is a 2-3 week trip each summer visiting national parks and such. Maybe an additional 7-10 day trip during kids breaks from school.

Anyways, I'm rambling. Curious what was considered acceptable behavior as we have never been exposed to these type of get togethers. Thanks for any insights you may share.

Dan, the ''official'' open house will be Saturday afternoon, although you will find that most folks are eager and willing to open up anytime.

If you are planning a 1 night stand, then come for the Saturday festivities. We will start with a fabulous pot luck breakfast, followed by seminars, some games, the open house, flea market/swap-n-shop, and a visit from Rita. It all wraps up with our awesome fish fry.....restaurant grade white fish fillets, shrimp, devil crabs, ff and hp.

After everyone has stuffed themselves with a day of fun, food, and fellowship, we will round out the evening with door prizes and a raffle drawing at the great fireplace under the shelter.

As the date gets closer we will post the details, and everyone will receive a goody bag with all the info.

1 last thing.....the entire rally is very laid back. We have some things planned, but absolutely nothing is required of anyone, EXCEPT that you have a good time doing whatever you choose to do, or not do.

We think everyone will enjoy the facility, the surrounding area, and the food, fun, and fellowship. We also have a couple of new things planned that should be of interest to many.

If you have a couple of light weight, easily carried camp or lawn chairs bring them. You'll likely find the rally attendees gathered in small and large groups around the camping area. Just walk up to a group, introduce yourselves, open your chair, join in the conversation. In 10 minutes you'll have some great new friends.
