Southeastern Camping Unit
John,
Several members of our unit would like to attend Alumalina as a group function, but I wanted to check with you first to make sure there would be space available for 8-10 units. We did the same thing at Falluminum and had a ball.

Alumalina Map Update 11-20-2013
I appreciate the compliments on the map. I'm the official map keeper of Canopener 2014 and thought the Alumalina participants might enjoy a visual representation of the reservations status as well.
I've incorporated some additional changes that came through this morning. I won't promise to update every time the list of attendees changes but I will try to send an update out every few weeks.
Click below on the "Alumalina Spring 2014 Map" link for reservation information as of 11:50 am EST on November 20, 2013:

I was fortunate to be at Falluminum along with the folks from your new unit and YES, it was a ball!!. We would love to have you come to Carolina for another great time.
The SC Park system doesn't have a way of blocking off any sites, other than pre paying for each site in the block.. Not real practical. I checked just now and they show 23 sites available for the weekend of the rally. We must also compete with other local campers, boaters and fishermen, although they normally don't reserve that far ahead.
There is a very good chance that the park will fill up long before next March with a mixture of Airstreamers and the others. At about $22/nite, best thing probably go ahead and make a reservation, then cancel later if it doesn't work out.
You can monitor their web site-Lake Wateree State Park- where you can keep track of the availability of sites. Just type in the dates and the list comes up. Wish I could offer a better solution.
Susan and I will be there Thanksgiving weekend, I will see what might could be done.

Still interested in some suggested recipes for the DO cooking seminar you are hosting.

Frogmore huh, not gonna play SC trivia with you Henry.
I felt pretty lucky finding the pic. And how can it be a stew w/o beef?

Alumalina Spring Rally 2014
Sandlapper,
Man, you have the spring rally rolling! You need to talk to the State Park staff about all of the fun and fellowship that is about to bust out around there in March. We need to start catching possums now and penning them up and feed them lots of corn? That way we will have plenty of protein for everyone?
I look forward to the Dutch Oven cooking. We can built a fire in the big campfire ring and keep it fired up the whole weekend so anyone can cook at anytime of the day or night?
It sounds like the folks from SE Camping might show up if they make their reservations quick enough to join the spring fling at the Lake? I want to hear about there camping ideas and moving around a larger area. I believe this to be a needed course correction for WBBCI national. I hope the WBBCI folks are paying attention to these grass root rallies around the country. This may be something that is working and getting more new AS owners engaged?
Mr. Sandlapper(John) take care of yourself, Susan and family.
See ya down the road

Thanks John, we are really excited here, looking forward to the March gathering. Had supper tonite with Terry and Annie, hashed out a few thoughts about the rally.
The new South Eastern Unit is indeed a sign of things to come for the Club. In many ways, the Forum rallys like Alumalina are part of this new movement, they are just not "official events" of the Club. Perhaps someday they will be.
The recent full moon really had the night critters out and about, I already have 2 possums penned up, ready to fatten up. Hope to have at least 3 more ready by March.
And yes, the DO cooking thing will be a great new venue for us all. With Maggie and Gary at the helm, it's gotta be good.
Counting down...
Another John

Greg & Bonnie,
sure glad your plans will bring you south to the rally once again, it will be
a real pleasure to have you both back down our way. You will enjoy this park, quite a change from Carowinds. Only down side is very poor cell service.
Will you be able to drag Bruce and Dorsey with you??

Susan and I joined the Southeastern Camping unit so you'll have at least one Airstream representing the unit at Alumalina.

Associate member
John,
I may have to follow your lead and talk with Chuck about becoming an associate member of the SE Camping Group. Of course that will blow my membership budget($1.10) for the year if I join in the near future. I will have to check around for more joining information.
John, coming home from a meeting last night I saw a fast big possum crossing a street near my home. Of course that is a city possum, no telling where he had been dinning? I will see if I can round up a couple of possums up near my Blue Mountain house, they may be a little slower than these city possums.
See ya down the road.

John, those city possums have many dining options but burn up too many calories dodging traffic, so they can't get as fat as their country cousins. Plus, a country possum is all natural and organic.

First I joked we're gonna need an extra day, now we're gonna need a bigger campground!
John, I'm calling you tonight, re: next week.
