Bob, many of the sites are quite long, and the Park allows more than 1 vehicle per site. Might just be a matter finding someone with one of the mega sites with a shorter rig that has room. Keep checking the Park web site, one may come open.

Bean Soup
Folks,
This is one of Linda's favorites, Bean Soup with smoked ham hocks and ham chunks. Its been slow cooking for over 3 hours and got a bit to go before it hits the soup bowls. That's my 10qt DO and its cooking in our backyard, Camp Hickory.
Prep is pretty simple and its made with a ham bone from a ham dinner, smoked ham hocks, chicken broth, big can of great northern beans, bag of mixed dried beans, onion, carrots, potatoes and simmer for a couple of hours.
Happy New Year.
Gary & Linda

Would LOVE to see the ones with the slides. They have one for sale in Florida at Bates. I think a little high in price but I do not know. Even if I can not find a spot to stay I will be there.

One last loaf before heading south......this one has a bit of leftover oatmeal in it, which made it rather moist. Might reduce the water a little next time.
This one spread more than the others, but is also more chewy-crusty and airy. That's a good thing, too.
This is a very forgiving, easy to work with dough. Regardless of what is added, whether the dough is more stiff or less so, it bakes into a beautiful bread.
Next one.......with charcoal!!

Woo Hoo, I got a spot. Just happened to be checking the SC Parks website , as I do a couple of times a day, and saw an opening. We just booked site 20. It looks like a fellow Airstreamer gave it up, as site 20 was already on the list.
Any interest in a swap meet?
See ya'll soon.

Good for you David, glad you can get in. Sorry Firedog, looks like your site. Wish you both could make it. Keep us in mind for next September.

Just a quick look ahead
Thursday: hot dog feast for any early arrivers
Friday: our almost famous possum bog. Open mic nite....introduce yourselves, tell us your story(briefly!!!)
Saturday: the really good stuff....Pot luck breakfast featuring DO cooking . Seminars on DO cooking, taking care of your tanks, maintenance/repairs on your trailer, swap-n- shop (parts), bring a beer-get a beer (micro beers), and of course the OPEN HOUSE.
And a special guest appearance by the one and only Rita, Sat pm.
And, our now famous Saturday fish fry, featuring our good friend Charles Fry Daddy P, master fish fryer. These are not fish out of any local lake or pond, they are top choice, resturant grade white fish fillets. With the trimmings.
And of course our Sat nite drawings.
Sunday: left over pot luck breakfast, and hopefully a brief worship service.
We will post the details later, and also have you a paper copy of what's going on but this should get you going. There are some things we have and some things we need. More to come.
REMEMBER: this is supposed to be FUN, so no one needs to stress over anything. Come as you are, do what you want. You are among freinds. If you have never been to Lake Wateree State Park, you are in for a treat. It is a small, 1 loop 69 site park, excellent for a rally. Common area in the middle. No one is away from the action. Paved, trees, mostly level but you may need some of the standard leveling devices.
It's a straight shot now to March.
John

I want to go on record and say the fish fry is not that good; go ahead and eat a big lunch. You may not want to show up to the fish fry. I think it is poisoned and is bad for you. Someone told me you could die from high quality fish that has been fried. If you see a line forming, don't be fooled; it is a trap. Just sayin'.

I was told not to eat the shrimp by my wife. She volunteered and ate my share so I wouldn't get a bellyache. Such a sweetheart
