any comments on where to stay while in georgia will be greatly appreciated.

the next stop , we think, will be crooked river state park near st mary's, ga... 2 days.. looks great we will plan two days here to explore the area.

then we will head to hunting island, sc for two days

and then on to the rally

what is the weather like in this area in mid september.

we travel with three english cockers

we have previously been full timers but have been off the road for awhile...and a new to us trailer...a 28ft versus our previous 25footer...

so this will be our first voyage...as part timers...
Hi you two!

If you can make a swing through Natchitoches, Louisiana, it is a beautiful old river town with an old French fort museum as well as old plantations, including one run by the National Parks. Full of history and old homes, one of our favorite places in the US.

Right outside Crooked River State Park in St. Mary's, Georgis, is A Big Wheel Rv. Park, which we really love. For a few dollars more than the SP, you have all the amenities in an extremely friendly environment. Last time we were there, they were still having Sunday night, campground-wide potluck dinners.

Wherever you stay, think about taking the ferry to Cumberland Island for a day. Live oak forests, miles of hiking in the woods and on the beach. Don't know if they allow the dogs.

The Gullah History Museum in Beaufort is very interesting, and explains the origins of the low-country culture.

Edisto Beach state park is one of our favorites, and Charleston is a must-see.

Have a great trip!

Maggie

There is a nice regional park is located near Brunswick, Ga. Blythe Regional Park. It still gets good reviews on the RV Park Reviews site.

We welcome you to SC and look forward to meeting you both, Safe Travels

We have stayed a few times at Blythe Island and enjoyed it much better than the crowded campground on Jekyll Island. It's only a short drive over to Jekyll, which has lovely uncrowded beaches, beautiful bike trails, and some historical buildings to visit.

Hi! We have booked a site, (66) and we're really looking forward to meeting everybody. We just bought our Airstream in March and we've taken 3 or 4 trips, but we've never been to a rally. Haven't seen any other Airstreams where we've camped, so this will be cool!

We camped one night at Blythe Island on the way back from the Keys, and it was really a nice campground. Immaculate bathrooms, hanging plants all over the place at check in, which was nice, and the people were friendly.

See you all in September!....but I think I'll pass on the 'possum.

Alumalina was my first rally -- and it was a great way to "break-in" to the Airstream family. Just a wonderful group of people. Oh, and the food is pretty awesome as well! Let's hope for nice weather.

Hey Barry, be sure not to tell Mtnlvrs about first timers possum skinning duties. To make it even better this year, we have an extra fat one we're gonna grease up for a possum wrestling contest.

So glad some first timers will be joining us. You will LOVE Alumalina. What a great way to meet fellow Airstreamers. We have so much fun (and never go hungry). The weather?? Who would believe it would "only" be 75 here today in Charleston. That is at least 10 degrees lower than usual but I am sure it will heat up again. Just pack shorts, jeans and a jacket - you'll make it.
Just than a month to wait....

One for the road

'Twas a month before Alumalina and all through the south
all the Streams sat ready, parked by the house.

Polished and shining, eager to go
the last 4 weeks are passing too slow.

Waiting to hitch up and roll out of town
back to a gathering where good times abound.

Blue striped Zip Dees and Flamingos in pink
Homemade curtains hang by the sink.

The site all picked out, the menu made
throw open the awning and come sit in the shade.

Some bring chips, some bring dip
some bring a jar so we can all take a sip.

Good food is plentiful, all first rate
Just bring your utensils and a really big plate.

Don't forget your stories, it's been a whole year
old friends and new friends, we all want to hear.

Shop talk, recipe swaps, and open house too
not nearly enough time for so much to do.

Before we are ready it will be time to head home
with fresh new memories to take as we roam.

So hitch up carefully to your silver abode
Safe travels to everyone, we'll see you down the road!!!!

Loved your jingle Kate, it's what inspired mine.

And yours too, Gary.

We all must have too much time on our hands!!!
