Hey folks....

thanks for hanging in there. I have some info to post concerning food, seminars and schedules but we have a busy weekend here at our shop that has occupied a large portion of our time and must get through it first.

Briefly, the campground rate should be 29.99. Anyone should be able to help you but Kathy (with a K) is #1. Just mention Airstream. Not sure about any other discounts. They are honorable people and will treat you right.

NJtoNC, glad to have you join us, pretty sure you will not regret it. Dave, thanks for twisting their arm.

We are still working on the menu but we hope to have a possum bog
Friday night and it looks favorable for another FISH FRY for Saturday PM. I will confirm all , hopefully Sun/Mon.

The tentative on the Seminars is
Hitching Up
Running Gear
Extended Travels
Insuring Your Trailer

I will post more, stay tuned.

John

One more thing...

it would be very helpful if everyone could RSVP if you have not already. I feel good that the fish fry will work out for us so a head count will be a good thing. And I need to know how many Possums to skin out. I have 2 in the pen, and probably can round up another one if need be. This is Possum country around here.

oh god. i thought this was a joke.

disclaimer: We're yankees. Although we've lived here for 2 years and i don't think we've witnessed a possum pot(?) yet.

And the tail.

He leaves the tail in, doesn't he? Flavors the bog so nicely.

I think it depends on the tail. Some are too long to fit in the pot.

We are packing the trailer and plan on leaving the end of next week, we have another snow storm forecast for this weekend, I am really tired of using the snow blower. The "bog" meal from last year was very good, they ( John's son and Bubba) said it was chicken but I can not confirm or deny what it really was. The fish fry is an amazing feat for a camping meal. Looking forward to seeing youz guys again. I think we are in #179 at the end of the row. We are planning on going to Edisto and Hunting Island before the rally.. Greg & Bonnie

If you get to Edisto before the 10th, we'll be the Interstate in site 57 in the beach campground. . Heading there Sunday.

John recommended a spot on the intracoastal waterway north of Mt. .Pleasant that we're going to check out when we leave there, Buck Hall Recreation area. You might want to take a peek at that, too.

If you haven't been to the Lowcountry before, I think you're gonna love it.

You could ask for an assigned site, if there is something vacant that you want.

I wanted the end site, due to the dog, and was the first reservation. Prices and deposit needs have changed.

Lauren, you should be fine. I have not had an opportunity to check in with the CG but we are in good hands. I suspect that by now the 2 rows they set aside for us are filled but not to worry, plenty more in the next row. It will be awesome to see 3 rows of Aluminum. I have not paid for our site either, plan on doing so at arrival. Kathy (with a K) is #1, talk to her if you can.. Tell her I sent you.

Be forewarned, I am a photographer, so camera will be in hand. I will mostly be taking photos of all your pretty Airstreams, and hopefully not too obnoxious.

As long as there are no photos of me ingesting said Krispy Kremes. I am accused of being donut-shaped enough as it is...

Update

A quick call to the campground today, 20 reservations have already been made. I think we will have 25+ to show up. If you are still on the fence, don't miss the fun, jump on in and join us. Check out the first few posts for CG info and phone #.

This is just a suggestion:

FRIDAY:

5-6 Meet and greet happy hour. Let the good times begin.

6-7 Possum bog. We'll need a few early arrival volunteers to wrestle
the Possums and help get the bog ready. Thanks in advance.

7 until keep the good times rolling.

SATURDAY

8:30-9:30 Potluck breakfast. Anything you would like to share.
Doughnuts, pastries, ham, eggs, Bloody Marys. I have
a 50 cup coffee maker.

10-12:30 Seminars : HITCHING UP: Hitch height & weight, Weight
distribution & sway control . I will be bringing my Shurline
Tongue Weight scale if you would like to measure your TW.
You may be surprised. RUNNING GEAR: Tires, Bearings and
brakes. INSURANCE: do you have what you need for your
Airstream. EXTENDED TRAVELING: Planning, budgeting,
packing.

These will be informal group discissions, led by Overlander63, Dave McCrosti, and (hopefully) Doug and Maggie. Take advantage of their knowledge and experience. We will do as much as time allows.

12:30-1:00 A quick lunch, on your own.

1:00-4:00 Open house. Show your stuff. This is strictly
voluntary participation. Look for the OPEN HOUSE sign
in the window.

4:00-4:30 Happy half hour. Squeeze in a cocktail before supper.

5:00-6:00 Fish Fry. We have the fish, premium restaurant grade fillets.
May be able to scare up some Devil Crabs too. Fries, baked
potatoe (maybe). If you have a good slaw/salad/dessert dish
please bring it along. This year we will need to collect a very
small fee to cover some of the cooking supplies.

7:00 until We have some goodies to give away. Out of Doors Mart is
sending along some items and a few other trinkets may show
up.

SUNDAY
8:30 Breakfast left overs

I will (hopefully) have a packet of info for everyone with more details. I also have some more of the now famous ALUMALINA t-shirts available at about the cost of a 12 pack of cheap beer.

There is no pavilion or shelter to use so once again we will be at the mercy of the weather. Last year had some drama, hopefully not this year. If you have a push up tent/canopy and have room to haul it we may need it. I only have 1 - 10x10 this year. It would be nice to have 6 to hook together.

So....that's about it for now. Less than 3 weeks away.

John

Want the torque wrench for hitch ball nuts?
