I replaced the 4 year old Parallax converter with an Intellipower converter today. The Parallax was a 55 amp unit, while the Intellipower is 45 amp.
Since the original Univolt hummed along for 34 years, and the new improved replacement only 4, I guess they really don't make 'em like they used to.
The converter was bleeding power from the DC to AC side, causing the higher indicated voltage. The Parallax was an experimental model, I guess it's just as well it didn't make it into production...

Terry,

Ya got me on those items, never messed with them. Last night I even consulted a lineman and w/o knowledge of all of the other systems on your trailer, that was one of the ideas. The open neutral is a definite soruce of higher voltage readings.

Interesting.

When I saw my volt meter, it definitely was a WTF moment. At least the process of diagnosis didn't take long. The toughest part of the ordeal was R&Ring the converter. It is buried under the bathtub, accessed through a tiny hole in the closet. When I removed the original Univolt, I had to partly dismantle the closet to get it out. The new models are much smaller.

wifi

We camped at Carowinds last week and in the area where we will all be camping there was no wifi we could get. The store has wifi there but it doesn't reach out very far. If you are counting on wifi at your campsite, yo may want to make other arrangements. Just sayin'.......

We have a Verizon hotspot that we can make available for others to check email, etc., on an honor system not to download movies, etc., as that capacity is limited.

I think it will allow up to six people at a time.

I'll be bringing our wifi signal booster, so we may have better signal.
It worked pretty well last year, everybody noticed when I turned it off...

What Can We Bring???

John,

My good Southern upbringing requires that we contribute to the meals. Since this is our first Alumalina rally, please let us know what we can bring for the breakfasts and dinners.

We look forward to meeting everyone. See you Friday.

I second Susan's request John, what can we bring along? I can make two things 1) Brown casserole, or 2) Green casserole. I will omit the squirrel for those squeamish folks out there. I will be in spot 160 with any luck they'll recognize insanity and put terry on one side of me and you on the other....
