I don't find it ironic.
Last weekend at the Cape to Cairo rally there were fire rings available, but we used the propane fire pits every evening. The propane pits start instantly, shut off without risk of fires easily, don't make smoke that bothers people with allergies (We have some attend this rally), don't make your clothing emell bad, and don't make you move when the wind shifts.
I will have mine, but will go with whatever the group decides for the event. People can still use a fire for dutch ovens like how Sugarfoot uses a chimney started for her volcano.

Oh my gosh --- I have skipped this thread till now - thinking it was about a book. You guys are gonna have a blast. Gee, IF I had known what you were planning I would have broken my 3 hour limit (max travel time) to join. You. I can't wait to read your stories about the event. I'll be thinking of you all - and trying not to beat myself up too bad about not reading this till TODAY.

Cannot Attend...
The weather is just not cooperating. We will not be able to attend. If there is somebody at the event that did not sign up for the Saturday evening tour but wants to attend the tour/dinner please use our tickets.
DanB, I'll leave it to you to decide how to re-use the tickets. I realize there is no refund at this point - that's not a problem. I would like somebody to go on the tour/meal in our absence if possible.

I'm so sorry to hear you will be missing this.
Please be aware that I will now be without internet unless I can find an open network on the road.
Anyone that would like to attend the Safari will need to phone me at 440.453.9782. First caller gets the rights to the reservations. DO NOT CALL THE WILDS DIRECTLY.
Lucius, I hope your luck changes. Again, I'm sorry

Lucius - just watching the news on the storms down your way - ugly stuff. It's a shame you won't be making it - you were probably already packed to go. Hope everything works out for you guys at home....

Wiegand01, Soldiermedic and I drove about five hours last night and gave the Walmart parking lot a try for the first time. You know, it's not that bad.
We have three hours to go and should be arriving before lunch.

What's taking so long D? We should roll in around 11 since we're passing Wright Petterson AFB now.

Airstreams at the Wilds
What a great time!
Met new friends, saw a bunch of Airstreams in all ages and stages of restoration and ate WAY too much!
The location was wonderful! Since it was "dark of the moon" we could see the Milky Way in all it's glory...no light polution.
PeeWee was very entertaining and informative. Hope he posts some pictures...he too about a million!
Thanks for the great idea Dan.

Looking Forward to Reading/Seeing More...
We're looking forward to reading about the rally and seeing more pictures now that attendees are finding their way back to civilization. If there was ever a forums rally that we wanted to attend, this was it.
The rain is continuing to fall in Georgia and all around the southeast. We are continuing to use the wet/dry vacuum in the basement. I'll pretend the wirring of the vacuum motor is a tribal chant and the vacuum hose is the snout of an elephant and dream about having attended The Wilds.

Fantastic pictures!! I love the rams in the sunset and the zebras. What a great rally!!!! Can you tell us more about Pee Wee's presentation? I would have loved to have attended but I do have charge of all the pets especially when the DH is gone.
Jason did you feed the animals that they came so close to you?
Dan your idea was so very cool and I see a huge success.
Please keep the commentary and pictures coming...

I just walked in the door at 7:35 central after leaving the Wilds at 10 AM Eastern.
I am exhausted, and will post images once Tin Loaf creates a page for the event.
