I've given some thought on the best way to get some cool tshirts and other stuff made up for our rally.
After some calculations, it became apparent that the least risky way was to go with a "third part provider". Unfortunately, it's not the cheapest. But, the selection looks good.
Please note that there is no "markup" on these items. I am not making a profit here!
Anyways, your invited to take a look at the following link:
Back to the food assignments! We're gonna skip . They probably eat just like the southerners?
So Jason and Andrea will be assigned to represent Belgian Congo! Seems this country was undergoing quite an era during the rally. Maybe Pee Wee has some stories to shed?
More to come!
Jason is in Mexico City this week, so while he gets to tour the Pyramid of the Sun I have been reading recipes.
I think we're leaning toward a peanut soup served over rice.
I ordered a few shirts today. They should be here in a couple weeks
I also got a message that if I refer a friend, they will get a coupon for $5 of their first order. If anyone is interested, just send me a PM with your email address.
To sadza or not to sadza? Now that's a good question. I've been scouring the internet looking for recipes that represent food indiginous to Southern Rhodesia. Many of the recipes have a European influence. But I finally found a side dish that just might fit be the ticket!
SADZA. I don't know how to pronounce it - I'll work on that. Sadza is made from meal (cornmeal I suppose?) and is sometimes eaten as many as three times a day. I can be served in a variety of ways - plain, with relish or with meat. I liken it to poi (sp?) which is used widely in Hawaii' although sadza is cooked to a much thicker consistency.
So the hunt for Southern Rhodesia recipes continues but you may end up eating sadza as a side dish. Now we just have to work on the relish.

It is possible that sadza is the same as meele mush.

I'm not a gourmet cook, however my sister gave me about a GALLON of real maple syrup from Burton Ohio. How about if I make pancakes with real butter and real maple syrup?

Lorrie and I are thinking of coming (not officially signed up yet), but are not cooks, so actually the exotic dish thing is a real negative for us. Would it be a deal breaker to just come with a normal dish to pass?
As for the Sunset Tour, it sounds like fun, but is probably too pricey for us.

It's Dan's event to manage but - I've never met a camper that would turn down any decent food when offered...
