AIRSCREAM Midwest Rally Fall 2004

The deluge seemed to follow me to Moraine View State Park - - it seemed like I towed through a constant downpour from Effingham to LeRoy with just about a 40-minute "dry-window" that allowed me to get setup in my site at Morain View before the next deluge moved in that didn't seem like it was ever going to end. As with all of the previous Midwest Forums Rallys, this one was fantastic even with the peculiar weather for the kick-off. There seems to be a "rule of thumb" for our Midwest Forum Rallys that there will be at least one representative for each of the Minuet Family Branches, and this event was no exception - - Loudruff was in attendance with their 6.7 Metre, Tracy Lawrence with their 7.3 Metre, and Overlander64 with a 6.0 Metre - - it was nice to have Vintage Argosy Minuet company as mine was the only Argosy Minuet (or Argosy for the matter) in the Vintage parking area at the WBCCI International Rally in Lansing this year (there were at least four other Argosy coaches <both trailers and motorhomes> at the International but they were not parked in the Vintage section).

This Rally afforded one an all the opportunity to get better acquainted and share Airstreaming information. The potluck was a fun evening, and the Halloween theme was quite a hit among our group as well as with a number of our fellow campers in the campground. While the Halloween decorations were out, the Hayrack ride provided by the campground made regular trips down our aisle so that the children could see the decorations that Margarita Mike and Tracy Lawrence had setup at the entrance to our section and the Pumpkin costume that Loudruff had for their Minuet was a "must-see" as well.

I must say that I am glad that I didn't miss this rally. We had a tremendous time, and it was one of the most relaxing weekend that I have had for quite some time.

Kevin

As our first official Airstream Rally, this weekend was a great time. We enjoyed meeting everyone, seeing the other campers, and of course all the good stuff at the pot luck. Hope to see everyone in June if not sooner.

HEADS UP on helping decide on dates for the June rally... make your preference known before hand if you have a weekend you definitely can NOT make it!

And, the June Rally is a MUCH bigger deal than our shindig last weekend.. it was SO COOL to see all the Midwest trailers together...hopefully we will arrive with one ourselves, barring no AC problems!!!

How many trailers were at the June Rally last year? Two rows were full ?

Well, we certainly had a good time! Can't believe how much Bruce talked. And talked. And..... talked! And the first time in a long time he has openly talked about his accident. Wow! He really was relaxed!

And we are already looking forward to June.... only..... the second weekend is booked already. We do a thing in Michigan every year that falls on the second weekend....

We did find nobody turned down food at any time..... and I did work my fingers to the bone being a good hostess, didn't I, Kevin? LOL!!

And John? Yes, we did ignore you as you rapped on the door to bid us farewell..... we were, ahhhh,..... busy?

I'm plainly going to have to brush up on my outdoor decorating techniques for the next time!

It was a great "scream" rally!

Hi all! We just arrived back at the old homestead in OH after spending a wonderful long weekend in IL at the rally.
We arrived in IL on Thurs. and were the first of the crowd to get set up. The day was nice and dry! Thankfully, after a rainy Fri. we had a gorgeous Sat. We loved getting to see the outsides and insides of all of the Argosy Minuets as well as the shiny ones, and Tedd's pop-up project too. The kids were adorable, the dogs were well behaved! The food was delicious! How can you go wrong with rallies like that?
The fellowship and fun was great. We truly enjoyed meeting you all! Hope to join you all again soon. If anyone heads this way, be sure to drop in for a visit.Courtesy parking available.....and we are only 45 min. from the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame!!!

The Avion and the little Ham Can didn't belong to our group, but I added their pictures, anyway.

I never talked to the Avion people, but the little Ham Can is a 1959.

We took almost 1/4 of the park.

Not to quell the enthusiasm, but I think at this point being October it might be a bit premature to start talking about a June rally. Jack usually starts the discussion in January and even then, for a bunch of folks, it's a bit hard to plan 5 months out.

Additionally, without stealing Jack's thunder, it was suggested that we might want to try another place (again, somewhat centrally located as LeRoy has been). Of course this too is a premature conversation as well, but I though I'd just throw that out there while on the subject.

Cool After The Rally

Hi Everyone!
This is Eileen! I just wanted to say that I had a lot of fun at the rally! It was a blast . It was great to meet all of you! I think I over did it on the turquoise obsession though, my parents were getting pretty perturbed! But seeing all of your great trailers made mine look empty, sort of like a flower someone forgot to water. Maybe I should paint everthing purple and turquoise. hmmmm... If you don't remember what I look like, I am in one of Rochelle's pictures with the Dilly Monster I mean flying monkey. Also, thanks to Lou for my snicker salad recipie in purple ink! Hope to see you at the summer rally!!

~Eileen
