Thanks for re-posting the schedule, Brad. We will bring some sort of appetizer (?) Fri night, then we'll barbeque some chicken and bring a salad or veggie dish for Sat. night. Can't wait to test all the dutch oven desserts!
Still have to get everything in the trailer tomorrow...it's all clean and ready to go; tomorrow will be busy!
Carol, I agree with you about getting up early 2 days? I'll pass on Fri morn. for sure...Jim likes to cook outside in the mornings...which is great for me!
Pumpkin carving...that sounds like a Jim thing to me too...he's pretty crafty.
Sounds like lots of fun!

Pure Magic!

Max Well,
Gumbo sounds great. How big is your Dutch Oven? I suspect there won't be any leftovers!

Any of you who come from north and west of Springfield...question about taking Hwy 265 S/413 into west Branson. Is that better than going all the way into Springfield then south on 65? We're coming from I44 from OK,,,thinking of taking Hwy 60 which is south of I44, but not sure about that highway...anyone have an opinion? Thanks!

Personally, I like I-44, and 65 down to Branson. But I haven't been on that route since last year coming back from somewhere... Secondary roads scare me when we're towing (which we just did for 8,000 miles!) because it's like a box of chocolates..... and I HATE bumpy roads and missing shoulders when we are towing Esmerelda.

We have not taken the entire route south through Springfield itself. I think there are too many traffic lights, too much close traffic and lower speed limits...

From KC we go down MO-13, I-44, US-65. It might be a little longer distance wise, but seems a little quicker time wise. I seem to remember seeing signs last trip that there will be new road construction and possible delays on 65 this month.

Carol, what have you guys seen on 65, any possible delays?

Hmmm, a horse in Springfield... must be a mighty special horse...

Coming south out of Springfield, the best route is US 65 to Highway 465 to Highway 76 west.

Currently there's no construction going on, anywhere on this route.

Trust me.

We're on our way to Lake Catherine this weekend. Hmmmmm, maybe I can talk the missus into coming out on Saturday.

Murrey, after 8000 miles, we kinda gave up & came home! LOL. We're going back to do Mesa Verde, Bryce, Zion, etc. in spring or fall next year. We had reached that point Steinbeck noted in "Travels with Charley", where we weren't absorbing much.

Skipped Colorado - and the Whole Four Corners area. But we'll get there.

Tell Sally- ya'll please come by! We're going to Springfield tomorrow, but we'll be back tomorrow evening & up here until Monday.

I want to hear where everyone's been since spring!

Brad, y'all don't make much noise. ;-) You'll wake Teddy up, and you know he'll bark his fool head off! LOL

But you can sit in our chairs till we get home if you're in before we get home!

8000 miles is a pretty good drive, Carol.

We just got back from a short little trip. North Rim and back via CO and UT. But that makes us look like pikers compared to you and Ray.

I'm impressed!
