If you have never camped at a music festival….
#1 The entertainment isn't just on stage. Save time for exploring the campsites at night. It's cool to get up close to the music jams. ( at least Bluegrass festivals are like that )
#2 Live Jams rank higher than folks blasting stereos. If you have to hear your favorite song , keep it soft, or when no one is jamming.
#3 The 10 o'clock quiet rule……Forget about it. Darken your camper so you can sleep late. You are not at a family campground
#4 Hold off on generators until late morning.
#5 At Jam sessions ( Bluegrass anyway ) people don't applaud much. You will look like a newbie.
#6 If you are going to drink, take it easy on Saturday night. Towing requires a clear head.
#7 If own an instrument ( and a tuner )….bring it. You might come across an open jam. It's best to be invited in, as some musicians just want to perform with their band or friends
#8 You are taking your chances eating at pot luck dinners. Some of us will only eat our on food. We have witnessed some less than sanitary practices. Food freshness can be less than good towards the end of the festival.
I don't know what this fest will be like Some of these tips might only apply to Bluegrass festivals

The fairgrounds in Waycross will open for RV parking at noon on Friday. I asked the festival organizer if it's possible to gather together outside the gate and park together. Here's the comment from the festival organizer:
"There are several large parking lots immediately across Hwy 84 from the fairgrounds. For that matter, on Friday morning before the gates open at noon, the grass area in front of the fairgrounds is huge and wide open."
If you're interested in parking near each other we can meet Friday morning and drive in together. Otherwise, the RV parking area is not that large so we should be able to get around to visit with relative ease.

Lineup is Finalized
I noticed the musical lineup has been finalized. It's been interesting to search for videos of the bands on YouTube. Lots of good music. Hope we have good weather!

excited to be going to our first rally!
Thanks for the invitation to meet around 11:30 am tomorrow and go in together, but Eva and I are driving in from just north of Tampa tomorrow (Friday), and while we plan to get an early start, it's still at least a 6-hour drive. Consequently, and speaking conservatively, we may be arriving closer to 5-6 pm.
Still, we look forward to meeting any and all Airstreamers at our first concert/rally!
PS - we loved the graphic at the top of this post. What talent!

fotoman1527,
We saved a spot for your trailer if you want it. Right now (Friday, mid afternoon) the field is wide open but there are limited places near the power poles. We saved a spot for you if you want it. Don't feel obligated but if you want to be next door to us we are the Airstream with 16771 (very faded) WBCCI numbers. As of now I think we are the only Airstream here. There is a small Class C motorhome adjacent to the pole too but there's is plenty of room for you too. We're about halfway between the stage and the back of the field (near the end of the large metal building)
I haven't heard anything from Tomzstream recently. I suspect Tomzstream will be here based on earlier comments. We haven't walked around the entire area yet - maybe we'll see them soon.

It was a rally of three rigs (six people) and we had a great time! We had two Airstreams and a class C in our group.
The GPGP and Tribute Festival is a down-home, good-time event. The fairgrounds is huge relative to the several hundred attendees and the associated tents, RVs, misc vehicles, chairs spread out here and there, smattering of vendors, and food stands. That is... there is plenty of room for everyone.
This will be on our list of possible outings for 2016 as well as the Swamp Town Get Down held in the spring at the fairgrounds. Check them out at
