I'm thinking about something pumpkin-y for the meet and greet. Not sure about dinner, maybe a soup of some kind.

We're not sure but since were in the south some kind of grit recipe. We made it to Nashville, not at the lake like we planned since they closed due to the shutdown but the KOA is heavily treed and pretty nice. Lots if big Prevosts here. Makes us look very small.

I'm just leaving Alaska on the Saturday red-eye after a successful fall hunt. Heading back to the "Lower 48" with a whole bunch of fresh moose meat. How's a classic moose chili sound?

Yummy! It all sounds good! I'm making Broccoli slaw/Chinese cole slaw, whatever you want to call it for Saturday night and I think we're grilling some Echrich sausages for Fri night and maybe some asparagus too (for Brad!)

Thumbs up

We'll be there, hopefully early Friday if everything works out as planned! As for the food we're bringing, Jim insists on his favorite apple crisp for one, the other is undecided. Whatever recipe someone posts on facebook that looks the best this week, haha!

Now to get the trailer cleaned and spiffed up, and new tires! Looking forward to seeing everybody!

Just a disturbing thought... anyone double checked that the lake/campground isn't a Corp of Engineers or government shutdown-affected facility?

The lake is not a Corp lake.

Grand Lake is owned by the Grand River Damn Authority, a state of Oklahoma agency that makes money on the electricity generated by the Pensacola Damn.

I believe the campground is private.

JD

Good to know, thanks. Only thought of it because the kids wanted to float the Buffalo River last weekend and found that it was shut down.

What I'm bringing for dinner: Deviled eggs.

And if I get too busy, hard-boiled eggs.

Regina and I are planning to leave Springfield between 10-noon on Friday.

She's planning on riding her motorcycle down. We'll be taking 60 highway through Neosho. If it's raining, we'll leave the bike at home and go down I-44.

We are looking forward to the outing.

Looks like we'll be arriving early (in less than an hour), are/is there any specific sites that you'd like us to set up house in?
Thanx

No worries. I decided to simply walk the terrain with a list of the spaces set aside for the AS Rally & choose one. We just set up in #62. See y'all when ya get here!!
-Also, the Husband says he's makin' Jambalaya as one of our dishes. Not sure if that's for pot luck or meet & greet.

Rubbin' my Belly...
Well it looks like our Karma is "on the fritz" again. We've made a lot less progress (travel-wise) the last couple of days than we hoped. Mainly due to the three emergency stops we had to make, within a short distance. I checked my mirrors (as I frequently do) & saw that The Tumbleweed was shittin' huge amounts Cotton Candy all over I-70, not long after we got into Kansas.
I had been pointing out to Dave, that I was battling severe cross-winds (from the curb side) for several miles. But once I saw all the pink clouds, I immediately pulled over (on a VERY narrow shoulder). We discovered that said cross-winds had nearly tore off the light mounted above the entry door, it was dangling by 1 small wire. They had also shaken loose our rear awning (which has seen better days). But the biggie...
the cross-winds had peeled back & nearly tore off The Tumbleweed's under belly, known on Airstreams as the "Banana Wrap."
At the first stop, we tried the bungee-cord remedy... LoL... no good. At the second emergency stop (well OFF the highway) I crawled under & used some tin snips to surgically remove a large portion of the mangled mess. I told Dave that we (as in me) should probably cut it all off, all the way back to the axles... which is what we had to do at the third emergency stop. But this time we were safely @ a rest area. By this point, we'd lost our daylight (& most of our spirit). So we broke out the DeWalt lights, tin snips, zip ties & garbage bags and got the job DONE!!
I am pleased to say we had two separate fellas (both in pick-up trucks) stop by & see if they could assist us at the 2nd stop. We were in a field, near an intersection, about 1/4 mile off the interstate. I took the 2nd fella up on his offer, as his old truck was empty & I had just finished cutting a huge piece, so we loaded it up & he took it away.
I am proud to say, we bagged everything we pulled at the last stop, rolled up the last of the tin, then Dave & I jumped up & down on it until it was flat enough to fit into the back of Toro.
But I would like to take a moment & apologize to the nice state of Kansas, for littering pink insulation (unintentionally, of course) all over the road... or as I like to call it:
Poopin' cotton-candy from our Airstream!!

Well sheet, some guys have all the luck.

And I'm impressed! You got tin snips in your tool box!

I drink a glass to Tito's in salute! SALUTE!

We'll be there tomorrow.
