I'm sorry if this got confusing!

Unless you personally don't want to, we are all camping in the same area. One "camp, one driveway!

This area was formerly known as the "North Country Camp". I understand it is rarely used.

This camping area is divided roughly in half by an elevation change. In 2009, we used roughly 30-40% of the upper half. We will hopefully need both halves this time.

I do not see a need to segregate for pets. I think we can all be reasonably considerate of our neighbors.

Once we lock things down a little bit more, a decision about a "generator section" will be made.

Thanks,
DanB

Question of the day!

I've ran some numbers and received quotes to determine the possibility of providing electrical power via a large generator.

Basically, $25 per trailer would buy us 5 amps per trailer for 40 hours. 30 amps per trailer would cost a whopping $170 per trailer!

So, here's the questions! Is electricity important to you? Is not having it preventing you from coming? Should we enjoy the wilderness and just camp?

Obviously, individual generators are still a viable solution.

I welcome you thoughts!

Last time when I was there I loaned my Honda 1000 out for PeeWee's Cpap machine. It's tiny and very quiet and didn't seem to disturb anyone. Of course he didn't need it until he went to bed.

Even the big Honda's are relatively quiet but I do really like the silence and the stars that you can only enjoy when it's dark and silent. I doubt if I'll be there because I'll have just finished my big adventure out west.

IMHO that venue is best appreciated by those who don't need the Telly or the sound system blaring, and can be comfortable under a sheet with the Fantastic Fan doing the cooling.

I'm hoping to attend this event and must say that peace and quiet sounds like the order of the day for an event like this. Don't think I would like it if there was a large generator running in the background.
Individual small ones for those who need it is fine with me.
In the wilds, doesn't that make you think of roughing it?
Also it is not often that out in the countryside at night you need air conditioning.
Most of us didn't even have it in our youth.

I think you guys are spot on!

I just hate for anyone to not come because of this power issue. Please note that I stood next to the 45kva generator and had a normal conversation with the guy running it.

I would say that the noise about the same as a Honda 2000 run at full steam. It is actually surprisingly quite. Additionally, the setup includes 200 feet of cable to a distribution box.

I don't need electricity so I am cool without an outside gen set. Am I the only one coming in a MH?

How many trailers/mohos can a generator service? I am wondering if we can get one and for a small section of the attendees and allocate those on a first come first serve basis? Those prices you quoted, was that per trailer/per night or for the whole event? If the latter, it's actually pretty affordable IMO.

How are we going to power the band and any other shared electrical needs?

i still vote for a section for pet owners who also want to use their generators at will....

We were at The Wilds #1 and a highlight of that rally was how quiet and natural the setting was. The beauty of this campground is that it's so far away from everything else. Could we possibly have generator use on one level of the campground and no-generators on the other level?

We were at a boondocking rally last year and got parked next to an AS that ran their quiet generator 24 hours a day for 5 days straight. I never would have expected it to bother me but the constant hum from the generator was really irritating. We'll definitely opt for a generator-free campsite after that experience.
