Just made it home too... hit a little rain near Peoria... other than that the trip was uneventful. Thanks Jack & Patti! It was fun meeting new folks and laughing with all our old friends!

Let me add my thanks to Jack & Patty for a great rally. Made it to Argyle Lake SP W of Macomb. Drove thru heavy rain about 20 miles E of Havana and the heavens opened just as I got here but has now ended and looks clear at the moment. But from the forecast looks like more of the same tomorrow.

The Airstream loop.

Patriotism at its best.

Who needs an Airstream?

Trailer open house.

Nice pictures! We managed to beat the storms home and pulled into the drive as a rumble of thunder and darkening skies approached. By the time we got unhitched, the storm skirted by my house and the deluge engulfed north and east into St. Louis City.

Thanks everyone for their attendance. It was an interesting weekend with the Saturday pot luck and movies getting underway just after 6pm as we all watched the various radar weather sites via our cell phones, iPads, and TV's looking for the back end of the storm.

As usual the food was outstanding and the quantities were overwhelming. So much so that I brought home a ton of movie candy and popcorn that we had planned to give out during the movie portion of the evening. The Friday night hot dog event went well. I think this year's crowd was the earliest arriving group in this rally's history. By the time we started serving the dogs at 5 PM, only three trailers had yet to arrive.

Again thanks to all of our attendees. Year 8 was memorable and year 9 will bring a lot of challenges due to the park system turning the reservations over to a commercial company. I'm going to dash a card off to Mary at Moraine View and thank her for her efforts over the last 8 years. She really was a big part in year after year, keeping the group together in adjoining sites which in a public park is almost unheard of.

Thanks Eric for the LCD projector. Without your help throughout the years, our trademark movies on the side of an Airstream would never happen. Eric also helped bankroll half of the funding for the advance we did this year that allowed us to pick up 19 sites next to the lake which provided a nice view and some cooling breezes during the hot daytime temperatures. And again thanks to all who attended. This rally is probably one of the longest continuing Forum rallies and it's wonderful to see so many of you come back year after year.

Regards,

Jack & Patty

Jack, Patty, & Eric- Thanks for putting on a great rally. I got to meet many new faces and also catch up with some I already knew. Hopefully, we get to do it again, despite the the reservation changes.

What a wonderful rally and time. Jack and Patty, you are mighty fine hosts. Eric, thank you for your sound engineering and sharing your Jackson Center slides. The weather didn't really stop the fun and actually helped cooler temps come through a couple of times. Reserving the sites by the lake loop was a great idea.

The Moraine View rally is one of our favorite times to catch up with old friends and meet new friends. We're looking forward to Moraine View 2011 -- wherever that may be.

Time to put airstream away

We just arrived home and are almost totally unpacked. We had a great time. Thank you Jack and Patty. You do know how to throw a party. Thanks to Steve for the photos. They are great also. We really liked the sites down by the lake. It was a interesting spot to watch the storm on Sun. afternoon coming across the lake. We were next to last to leave and the last will remain nameless.
Thanks again for the great time. See you at the 10th annual Morraine View party.

Dan and Marty

Can whomever made the gooey butter cake on Friday night please forward me the recipe. Also, I think I heard that the fruit spread that you had served with it came from costco, can you tell me the brand. This was so good I want to make it for a upcoming event.

This was a great event. It did rain significantly, but by about 6pm, it cleared up...though we had Jack our on-site meteorologist with his, er I mean Patty's iPad-- feverishly watching the radar.

Thanks to Norby for help making the mac and cheese. I hope next year we'll be able to do something similar. I too am a bit concerned about the new reservation system, but suspect we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Great to see you all.

Good to hear from you, Twink, and good to see you at the rally.

It was a fine time, rain and heat and all.
