Brian,
We better make sure we give Ace his libations AFTER breakfast. We don't want the prep cook to be tipsy.

I am soooo looking forward to the Fall Colors Rally. It's going to be a great way to end the season at Penn Wood Airstream Campground.

Ace,
Hopefully there's room in the kitchen, because I signed on to help at Chez Frank's too.

As for beer...What's your favorite? And please don't say Iron City Light.

IC Light was a big seller here back in the 80s. Not anymore.

I not picky about my beer but it must be cold. I'll have a TAC mug chilled and ready to go!

Thumbs up Getting Closer

We're heading up to Penn Wood this evening to stay the week leading up to the rally. We have a little bit of work to do in preparation for everybody's arrival.

Pack warm the high and low for the weekend is forecast to be 42 F - 68 F. Great weather for campfires. If you need propane for your furnaces we have it for sale on site (we cannot however fill MoHo LP tanks).

Some stats on the rally attendees...

34 Airstreams/Argosies + all the Penn Wood lease holder Airstreams (at least 37 more). So there will be plenty of aluminum to gawk at.

125 total people

Oldest Airstreams - A 1955 Comodore Vanderbilt 30' Liner and a 1955 16' California Whale Tail Bubble. We'll have to do a serial number compare to see who has the oldest '55. So bring your secret serial number decoder rings.

Newest Airstream - 2011 25' Flying Cloud

Longest Journey - (according to addresses on the Forum)
1. Perry, FL - 964 miles
2. Columbia, MO - 781 miles
3. Bradford, NH - 541 miles

And as we said before we're looking forward to meeting old friends, making new ones, showing everybody a great time, and fostering the Airstream spirit.

If anybody needs to contact us a PM to me would be the quickest and easiest. If you need to speak with somebody please call the park at 814-764-8963 (leave a message if nobody answers and we'll get back to you as soon as possible).

One more reminder, the park cannot accept credit cards so please come prepared to pay the remainder of your fee via cash, check, or money order.

Exclamation Don't Follow Your GPS

One more reminder...Please do not follow your GPS to Penn Wood or you will end up on some roads that were never meant to see a trailer...Don't ask me how I know.

Folow the directions on the Penn Wood Internet site...

Penn Wood Airstream Park - Directions

If you are travleing on I-80 take exit 64 for PA-66 south towards New Bethlehem. From the exit the park entrance is 4 miles south on PA-66. The entrance is on the right at the bottom of a hill after the Limestone Fire Company so take it easy coming down the hill.

Look for the sign...

If anybody needs more specific directions, just let me know.

Hi. Is there any chance that some of us who are too late finding out about this rally but could possibly drive over for the day could stop in to meet everyone? (Of course we understand that we'd have to pay a fee to get in.) It might be too long of a drive for a one-day for us, but I think it might be a 3-4 hour drive for us. We could drive over, spend a few hours, and drive back.

I don't know for certain if we can drive over, but I thought it would be wonderful if we could (I'd have to talk with my DH).

Getting to go through the "tour of homes" (TT's) would be wonderful as we are going to start the gutting of our TW soon, and I just know we could get some great ideas and would love to talk and get some good directions on what we're planning to do from those who have already gone through it and are experienced.

Thanks.

Deb

Deb,
As with any rally we have had a few cancellation and if you are intersted in attending the rally we will have a site for you. If you can make it, please fill out the Rally Attendance Form and send in a $20.00 deposit as soon as possible.

If you only want to drive over for the Saturday happy hour / trailer open house, please feel free to do so and there would be no fee for that. We're planning on happy hour starting around 3:00 or 4:00 PM.

Hopefully you can bring your Airstream and participate in the rally.

There is nothing we'd like to do more than attend the rally with our AS, but we have had plans with my sister and brother-in-law for several months now starting that Sunday, so we won't be able to attend the rally and still be ready for our family trip.

This rally around Clarion, PA is so close to us, it is a shame we can't make it.

The good thing is, now that we're connected with the Forum, we can plan ahead for next year and hopefully be able to attend several rallies. (We're going to try hard to get to the Balloon Festival in Albequerque, NM 2011!)
Another one that sounds great is the Top Sail Rally at Destin, FL in September or October. I used to live in Ft. Walton Beach, FL back in the '70's, so I know how beautiful that area is.

Since we have those other plans, I thought perhaps we could squeak out Saturday to drive over and meet everyone, but I still have to talk with my DH to see what his plans are for Saturday. I just wanted to know if it was a possibility before I approached him.

Thanks, if it seems doable, we may see you on Saturday.

Deb

Deb,
Well we hope you can at leat make the happy hour. I know there are a few other folks planning on stopping by for the happy hour / tour of Airstreams.

Just remember you do not have to wait for a rally to come and visit us at Penn Wood. The park is open from the first weekend in May to mid October and you don't have to be a WBCCI member to camp. This year we're closing the weekend of 10/08-20/2010.

Only 34.5 years to retirement for me...

I'm envious of your freedom to roam.
