Is there anyplace to buy propane nearby? It looks like we'll be using the furnace a lot.
It' s 10 degrees in Indiana tonight. 50 degrees is starting to sound warm.

If no one here responds, call the park and ask if they know. I can't remember a location that fills tanks close to the park.

Also, make sure your tanks are full if you arrive later on the first night. Most places there close earlier than you'd think, being off-season.

Hey, anybody know what time the pot luck and Sunday breakfast will be. I'll need to know so I can get the Dutch Oven going to have our meal done in time for the rest of you.

See ya all there.

We are leaving Wednesday morning around 8 PM and will arrive sometime Thursday.

...
In a pinch last year, we bought a grill-sized tank and swapped it out with our 30 lb tank overnight. We're bringing one with us in the truck as a backup.

IIRC, the gas station/convenience store at the corner of 98 has those little tanks available. The Home Depot (in Destin I think) also has 24-hour tank exchange/purchase.

Phil (12 degrees this morning here in north-central Georgia)

Has anyone traveled along I-85 southwest of Atlanta recently? I'm curious how much of the road construction is complete and how much of the new road is open.

Thanks.

I wish we were coming but company from CT changed the plan. I do love the comment about the tent burning. You all have a great time and we'll be watching from afar!

the least expensive place to get a REAL fill is the ace hardware store near miramar beach, just west of the outlet malls n destin.

~8 miles from topsail, but if you miss the turn headed east it's another mile or so to double back.

Ace near topsail
____________

IF u have ever been in an rv park during PEAK air conditioning use when the VOLTAGE available drops....

same thing happens in cool weather in these parks.

topsail is swanky but the power gird was built before the boom in 50 amp mega rigs AND it is underground...

so it's not easy to upgrade the park wiring and it's now a STATE park so funding becomes an issue.

apparently TOPSAIL is one of the biggest revenue parks in the fl system.

also since the park is EXPENSIVE folks want their money's worth and try to do everything with electrons.

in cool weather EVERYONE runs space heaters and lets the 'water drip' at a faucet on freeze nights...

with so many space heaters (i am sure some trailers have 2-3 of them going) and so many party lights...

VOLTAGE DOES DROP. enough to damage the compressors in a/c heat pumps, sensitive electronics AND enough to melt your power cord...

for example running just 1 1500 watt heater AND flipping on the electric water heater OR a coffee pot OR the microwave or a hair dryer...

will quickly drop the voltage to the 100s, especially on cool daze or nights.

so get lp gas, bring lp gas, use lp gas and bring along yer comfy warm clothes.

and flip on/off these 1500 watt gizmos, so that they aren't ALL on at once.

cheers
