Annette's been cooking the sauce she's bringing for the rigatoni all afternoon. We are going to eat good.
I would try to snitch some but would get my hand slapped! Hope everybody is hungry.

I'd get my hand-slapped, too. After all, preparing a meal 3 weeks ahead of time is just too inviting an invitation to pass up.

Crud

It looks like we have to cancel, I'm really bummed. Gotta do a work trip on Sunday and just can't make the schedule work out where we can make it to Top Sail without arriving on Fri and leaving on Sat. We can work out some photo-swapping. Ya'll post Florida images and I'll send stuff from frosty Kansas City .

If anyone is interested in my site (middle of the back row, we stayed there last year and it's a good spot), PM me in the next few days and we can schedule it with the campground.

I was really looking forward to the first outing towing the Big-O-34'er with the hensley.

Thanks, everyone. I called and made reservations. I'll be in the tent section, since I'll be camping in my TV. Slot T-19. It should be good for the pups. I am thinking of bringing a big cooler with some fixings for the potluck dinner... I am arriving Jan. 7th and leaving Jan.11. I am excited to see/meet everyone! No speedos for this body. Maybe my dog'll participate though..hee hee.

hi 'rae

tent section...

this is essentially an ALL NEW construction since last year in the brush just WEST of the rodeo' drive cove...

these are ALL NEW this year and have water and electric connections and a grill at each site, some have picnic tables too.

the ground for erecting a tent is pea gravel boxed in on all sides with a wood frame, so it's level, stick free and SLIGHTLY above the drainage line.

but you cannot PARK the tv directly at the tent sites.

there is a central parking lot (asphalt) and each site is ~50 ft to 100 feet WALKING from the lot.

the parking area is surrounded by 25 'tent sites'

and each one is connected to the lot by a short foot path cut through the palmetto and brush.

while the cabins are more expensive, they are fully equipped (kitchen and bedroom) except for food.

there is a "no pet" rule for the cabins but i've seen small dogs there and the parking is RIGHT at the entry/door for each cabin unit.

RAIN is every common this time of year and temps in the 30s at night are a regular thing.

cheers

Hi :-) Thanks for the extra info! I'll be sure to bring a few blankets. With two dogs too, I should be toasty enough. Looking forward to it...

We come that way to Santa Rosa Beach with Lucy (25FB) quite often. We get off I-65 at Montgomery and go over to US 331. We take US 331 all the way down through Luverne. Take the Opp by-pass on to Florala and into Florida at Paxton. You are in the same county with Topsail at that point. Continue south on US 331 through DeFuniak Springs and continue to the end of US 331 at US 98 in Santa Rosa Beach. Turn right on US 98 and go east about 5 miles to County Road 30-A. Take a left on to 30-A and go about 1/2 mile to the campground. This is a good route to take the Airstream on. Plan a short stop at the Alabama rest area just north of the Florala Airport. it is really nice.

Take this route and none other if you want escape Alabama.

Seriously, US 331 is the best route. US 29 is another route from the Auburn area, but the terrain is more hilly that you'd imagine.

If you are leaving the Auburn area Thursday morning (Jan 7) and would like to caravan, we'll be in that area at that time as well. We will pull off the road and eat lunch somewhere along 331.

If you like to setup your campsite in daylight, plan on arriving at Topsail before 5pm. Sunset is 5:15pm Central time on the 7th, and that's when them snakes start coming out.

Sorry to be so late to chime in. The wife and I will be at site #123 again this year. The pug puppy from last year is all growed up.

Then and Now!

Swampbillies will not be able to attend this year. Her husband is going out of the country on a job but I'll still bring some music stuff like last year. I'm just not allowed to plug in electronics if I'm mentally impaired (which can happen at any time)
