Well, how things change in just a few hours overnight. IDOT had planned to route I-80 traffic through Tipton, necessitating the appropriate law enforcement response. That changed, and I-80 south of town is empty as the through traffic is now routed from Davenport north, over to I-35 and down to Des Moines. The power was off for a while last night, and we were anticipating being out for days. Alliant got the main feed line re-routed in just a couple of hours (THANK YOU JOHN_HD!!!!) and the rain has stopped at least for now. As Scott said, all that can be done here has been done, at least for the time being. Laurie has made it out of Cedar Rapids this morning and found an un-obstructed route home.
We may yet try to get out of here early this afternoon... so we may yet see you all there!
Roger

It looks like Le Roy, IL is in for a full day of heavy rains from the looks on the radar this morning.
Dallas, we just pulled up the stabilizers at Brown County State Park just south of you. If it slides eastward just a bit faster there's a chance of rain stopping by the time of Jack's soiree tonight. Radar here (Le Roy just NW of Champaign). It'll be a wet trip but I've got my fingers crossed!

We had more heavy rains here on top of our already soaked ground and swollen streams. Our creek was back out of its banks, so our departure had to be delayed. The rain has now stopped and the creek's going down, so I think we'll make a run for it! There's more on the way, so this is our chance! We're making a run for it!! See everyone soon.

I was just about ready to hitch up the Eldorado when a severe thunderstorm blew into town. Battened down the hatches the best that I could and checked the latest weather information. Flash Flood Watches and Warnings were up for about half of my route. Decided to wait for some clearing and the storms just got worse. As I write this message, things have guieted down considerably. My plan is to hit the road about 5:00 a.m. Saturday. All that remains to be done is check the air pressure in the Minuet's tires and stow the electrical cord.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Kevin

Alright Kevin -- I'll pass along the word. We drove through some strong storms coming from south of Indianapolis. It cleared as we neared the IN-IL border and it turned into a clear, comfortable evening.
What a mess of storms you all had to contend with getting to the rally. A veritable train of storms moved so slowly from our area and points west, headed right into your target destination. I've had you ralliers on my mind today. May you all have safe arrivals! ~G

We were really hoping to get our weekend together so that we could be there with all of you. Kevin, we are really disappointed NOT to be able to see the Minuet and El Dorado hitched together! Tedd, we are sad to be missing your lovely family! Hope you all have fun and a great weekend!!!

I am about 20 minutes from departure (have to play shuffle car to make room to get the Minuet out of its parking spot). Cool (for far southern Illinois) and a bit muggy; but no storm clouds and the sun is just getting a good start on clearing out the ground fog. Should be in LeRoy by a little after 11 a.m. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Kevin
