Since I made this choice I now have to figure out how I'm going to display a flag(s) for my trailer.
Jack
Your idea is very cool.. I was hunting for portable flag stands, which can walk away or have to come in and out every night.. jeez, ....2 portable flag stands plus the Dreaded Terrier Sisters entangled.. help meeeeeee.
I still don't know what to do about our flags, however :-) I'm still thinking...
BTW.. I have one flag (I have a small collection of flags) that has a picture of a martini glass on it.
Think if we displayed it at 5 o'clock people would get the right idea??
We could hang THAT one from a tree.

Jack,
If you put the base under the jack foot will it clear the frame alright? If it does then you could also clamp the pole to the frame or the jack higher up.
Good idea!
Al
Yep it should clear the frame fairly easily. It's meant to go under a tire for a vehicle so I'm sure the pole holder side of the plate will be far enough on the end to clear the frame. I went ahead and placed my order so I should get it within 7 days or so. I'll try it out and see how it goes and let you all know. They had some screw in the ground mounts also, but I think my 1250 lbs. of hitch weight should pretty easily keep that mount stable. 14+ ft. should be a nice height also. Just up and over the rooftop.

Like Cheryl, I am wondering what we are supposed to bring. We will be ending a fairly long trip with the rally, so if there is a potluck, I would only be able to bring something we can prepare there. Or do folks just bring their own dinner and gather at a common spot?
I feel like a kid looking forward to camp. Wait...I am!!!
For you (very much welcomed) new people, you should know that there is a NICE little grocery store right in town, and Bloomington is a larger city with a WalMart and other bigger stores.. it's 10 to 12 miles from Moraine. So you don't need to fret groceries beforehand.

thanks flamingo-kid1. that's good to know as there are always those things you forget. i'm already getting excited and it is still over 2 months away! i'm already try to decide what dishes to pass to make!
This is to let you know we will be attending this rally and we are really looking forward to meeting all of you who will be there! This looks like it will be a great event.
Let us introduce ourselves, we are known as “NorCal Bambi” and “CaddyGrn” and hail from California. Attending this rally will be one of our stops along our circuit of the United States as we travel to the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. We will be celebrating our “Sister Ship”, the 1963 Bambi, which is now a part of the museum collection. Our journey from California to New York and back is developing into what we are sure will be a wonderful experience! We anticipate chronicling this event with shared experiences, our regularly scheduled broadcasts with the VAP, and ultimately with a book sharing this adventure and the Airstream Community at large.
We would like to invite you to join our “Trailer Convoy America” rally as well! Signing up will show your support for MoMA’s selection of adding an Airstream to their collection as well as the Airstream lifestyle! It costs nothing to sign up: You can sign up if you would like to participate as a virtual tour member, as host (or potential host) for us or our group, or as a caravan member who will actually travel with us part of the trip. To sign up just click on I will attend at:
One of the guys at work gave me this when he quit racing a few years ago. 1/4" plate with a 2" FPT coupler welded on. I begged off on the 16 feet of galvy pipe that came with it.
Since I already have a small pole up by the hitch I'll plant this under the streetside wheel. Get a couple pieces of aluminum pipe and we'll be in business.
If I can find a big enough flag I won't need the awning.

Tom that looks a lot like what I'm buying other than the tube on mine is much taller and has a locking screw to secure the pole. As I though you just put that under your hitch jack rather than the tire and you have your flag display up front.
