Definitely, a shiny aluminum bucket-o-rocks.

Hey, I think that would stabilize the pole bases. Probably would make set-up easier no mater where I camped. I would still need ropes to stabilize the entire awning in the breeze and keep it taut away from the trailer. I'm thinking the most practical solution would be to pick up 4 concrete blocks at an ACE hardware or such just before coming into Topsail. Then I can ditch them before I go home. I think I'll give Topsail a call before I lug around the blocks, though. Just four little short stakes!
I wondered about the jeep and 5th wheel in #141 too. I had to chuckle at the lone bike in #165. Recalling one of the oldest Airstream logo's with the bicycle as the TV, it's more believable to see an Airstream with a bike than a jeep with a 5th wheel.

My new trailer didn't come with any awning.
I balked at spending $1500 for a new one.
A buddy of mine is making me up a vintage looking awning it's going to have poles from the trailer to the top of the vertical pole and horizontal poles between them, so it it should be stable.
It will also have a valance,
I'll tell him this rally will be his debut, watch the whole thing fall down

I don't want to stake any further out than the edge of the concrete picnic table pad. Surely they don't have utilities buried under a concrete pad. Great thoughts everyone. Concrete blocks may be an option, but aluminum beer kegs would go with the decor. Bucket-o-rocks . . . . rocks, hmmm, could pick some up in every state I pass through on the way down. Sounds like something I saw in a movie once about a long, long trailer!
|
They have an underground sprinkler system, which is the reason for the no stakes signs. Runs on the edge of the pads. Kegs would look good.

That is really poor planning on their part, no stakes at a campground?
From the looks of sites...most of the space under awning area is concrete.

Klattu last time I was there I was at site 123. I remember your site 167 as a great pull thru, and the group located their had a great party going on because of all the area to spread out. They even had a swing set setup for kids Yours site is one of the best, none are bad but you have a winner.

Stakes
They also have the cable running around just less than a foot underground also. You can see it coming up in some places but this was when they were fixing things at that time in the begining of the year.

You are making an assumption that it is a SOB. It would be really funny if it just happen to be an Airstream, not part of the group.

Rally Calendar
The Rally Calendar for this event is showing 10 attendees. I think that we are above that number. Everyone attending should look at the list and make sure that you're on it. It's a quck was to keep track of how many Airstreams are coming.

I have to say, looking at the pictures, this is a VERY NICE CAMPGROUND. I'm afraid we may never want to leave.
As far as the unknown in the site in the middle, he could be a big Class "A" and trump us all. These are premium sites and the rates are such that I don't expect to have the "Beverly Hillbillies" in there. They would probably get a kick out of their fortune of being in such great company as what we are putting together.
Have to wait and see. I say we all bring large rolls of tin foil and convert him anyway............

I don't know. The Beverly Hillbillies just might show up if they know you are planning a "midnight" raid with tin foil! Tee Hee!

FWIW - I'm following this string and have mentioned it to my wife. We'd love to attend but first have to put our holiday schedule together and see if it's possible.

Sounds great
That would be great if you are able to come over. Also ibgl6 you are welcome to come over to hang out as well.It would be nice if you are able to make it with your Airstream for at least one night though. It is going to be great meeting some new faces and also some we already know.

Yes, everybody come on. Airstream in tow or not. It's going to be fun!
Those of you next to Clancy Boy need to watch him closely and hope his new silver ball of joy has a sizeable graywater tank. I just caught this in the Blue Boy thread:

That must be why my Blue Boy seemed so full at the last rally. I should have known. Now I pity the SOB in #163! Actually, it might be a good way to displace the occupant and free up the real estate.
Just kidding, I'll need eat my words if a real Airstream shows up in that site. And if not, I think the tin foil is a great idea. We'll have a new convert yet.

Oh I forgot, a Blue Boy won't be necessary at this rally. Thank goodness for sewer hookups.
