When you hit 60, you gotta stop doing fried. When you hit 65 you wish you would have stoped at 50. Grouper on the grill - little olive oil and a lot of garlic - Fresh greens and a good white wine.

By the way - If the movie system takes DVD's, I'll bring Popeye. You can let most of the kids watch it

I will probably check into it Wednesday the 3rd, the day after we arrive. Don't know what's available or the costs involved, but I'm not into an overloaded party boat with everyone's lines tangling either.

Nope, GONE - Sorry, along with most of his work.

OOps, I stand corrected - This is an edit - I just checked the web page - it's open - that's great - good stuff to see.

Have not done fried in a long time, not for health, for taste.
I like grilled, or do without.
Now, fried shrimp is a whole different question.

Popeye...have not seen that one in a l o n g time.
Robin Williams version?

I did a down and dirty web search on fishing charters and it seems there are lots out of Destin. Rates average $120 - $160 per hour (excluding tip) with 4-6 hour minimums. Boat sizes vary and most have a 10-15% surcharge for more than 6 people. I'll investigate more when I get there, I'm sure there are lots more than just what's on the web.

The Sushi Airstream is no longer at Seaside. The Frozen Drink Airstream is still there. Sorry. Here's a photo of it that I took this afternoon. There is a good sushi bar at the Blue Bar on the Bay.

If you decide against the party boat fishing trips, just going to see the fleet come in is very interesting. Destin has one of the largest party boat fishing fleets in the country. They retrun to Destin Harbor (15 miles from Tops'l) between 2 and 4 PM each day. It is quite a show. They display their catch on hook boards at the stern of each vessel. Resident Giant Blue Herons await their share of fish heads on the dock pilings. There are several good local restaurants within walking distance of the docks, including the Lucky Snapper on the Harbor and McGuire's across the street.
