Phil & Sue, Saturday afternoon will be just in time. The potluck is for Saturday late afternoon/evening meal. I believe the raffle will be sometime around then also. We're doing a raffle instead of a contest and everyone will have an equal chance at the prizes. Anyone that wants to bring something to raffle off is welcome to do so, but its not required. Breakfast is for Sunday morning. We have the clubhouse available if we need it as well. You know you are welcome, so come on down. Besides, you need to show us your "new" Sovereign.

I work Friday and we would not be able to get there until Saturday afternoon, and leave Monday. We hate being late to stuff, and feeling like "third man out" (so to speak) where all the people seem to already know each other, and have split into their respective cliques. Hmmm.

I logged into TopSail reservations (http://www.reserveamerica.com/fl/Topsail_Hill/Campsite_Map/r/campgroundMap.do?&agency=FL&parkId=1250&camparea=6 7), and 105, 109, 111, 115, 124, 127, 129, 135, 142 and 155 seem to be available still (Sat night/Sun night). 105 is closest to the bathroom, which is nice. We still might be able to get there...
Phil/Sue I can tell you the only one I have met out of the entire group is jbond and his wife. I know some from their posts on the forum; I have PMed a couple and spoke to 2 or 3 on the phone. I don’t think you will see cliques as the attitude I see developing is to be sure everyone is included. You will see subgroups break off to go shop, fish, talk and so on. I have a son to keep entertained so I may have to do some things differently. My wife has already told me she will be shopping as the retail in New Orleans is still very limited. The best way to make friends is over food which is why potluck is very popular. I feel that no one knows me well enough to exclude me from anything, which may change after the rally.

What is happening

Phil, I'm sure that everyone would say "come on down" regardless of when you arrive or how long you can stay. I'm pretty sure several are leaving Monday based on older posts. This is our first major rally and we don't know anyone other than Rebel Beck and AWPPC (who is following us to Florida). Based on what I have read, there will be a happy hour every day (maybe all day?) so getting acquainted should be pretty easy

The potluck is just that, if you want to eat with the group Saturday afternoon, bring some food. Breakfast is for those (this is my opinion) that will be leaving later Sunday morning or Monday.

Leave Friday night and arrive real late. At least one trailer from Georgia will not get in until 1:00 am Saturday morning. I'll bet there will be folks up willing to hold a flashlight and help him (and you if it happens) get backed in and situated.

Hope to see you there

Greg

Thanks for the quick reply. I am still debating whether we can make it or not.

BTW, the "new" AS is in the driveway being slowly worked on. I've got one taillight off (every socket is bad), the floor is torn up, back bed removed and subfloor partially removed. It _may_ be ready (should be...) for the 4th of July trip we're planning. For any trips 'til then, the '61 is the only way. Plus, since Sue and I were only bringing the dogs (not the rest of the family), we'll fit just fine. (We were all at the North GA leaf thing, and it was CROWDED in the 24'). The '61 is for sale too, since we are replacing it with the '73.

That looks like mine did in Sept when I started on it.

they all have leaking tail lights or what?

I'm still finishing up at a crazy pace to leave next week.

a not so merry christmas

julie and i won't be able to attend the rally as we had hoped. on christmas morning, julie's grandfather died of a stroke, and we'll be in england until that sunday for his funeral. i was really looking forward to meeting all of you. perhaps in april for the hiawassee rally.

i just cancelled my reservation for site #161. that's pretty much in the middle of everything, if someone wants it. i'm saving my can opener shirts for next year.

happy new year, all.

JP, we send you our condolences and deepest sympathy. So very sorry to hear about this. Give Julie our love and we will be thinking about you.

We will plan to see you in April if not before.

The taillights look like they must have been filled with water. The sockets are a mess and the bulbs are rusted in (cannot remove). To remove the taillight which is riveted into the skin from the inside (under the interior skin), I had to chisel down and break those rivets. Then, the light "cans" are rusted so badly that I haven' t been able to take them out of the aluminum taillight casting.

That's on the '73. On the other hand, the '61 which would be used for the can opener just got 4 new marker lights (teardrop). Now if I could just get the water line fixed...that is, find and fix all the broken spots from the freeze. I found out that the water heater output is split, after replacing most of the CPVC pipe throughout the trailer and hooking up.

Hoping we can make it.

Our condolences and sympathy go out to JP and family.

OK, I'll stay away from the photo editing software . I'll just have to take more candid pictures that don't need any modifications .

So keep your head on a swivel - and smile "you're on candid camera". Boy, that phrase can date a person's age.

Pulling down the tree tonight, putting up the lawn decorations tomarrow - getting the CCD ready and putting in some last minute stuff. A little over a week left - we may also try to make it on Thursday...... Have to check the kennel to see if they can keep the big boys for one more night.

You are so evil. Just remember what they say about paybacks. And you really ARE dating yourself. Of course, since I remember watching it in black & white, so am I.

All kidding aside, I do hope you and Tina can make it in by Thursday. Surely the kennel will open the door for your loveable Labs a day early.

Welcome, Randy and Pat. As for potluck, anything you like, we'll like too. Don't worry about not knowing people. We don't know anyone either, except by way of this forum. But, you know, by the time we all leave, we'll know many more Airstreamers! And that's what it's all about See you there~G

Us too. We have not met any of the other attendees, except electronically. We have done a lot of camping with Lucy this past year, but have rarely seen another Airstream. We have never been to any kind of group camping event. This will be our first Airstream event, and we are really looking forward to it.

Booked site 142

Howdy all. I just booked site 142 for Sat/Sun.

Pot luck? Let's see...pork chops with chocolate sauce...no. Crabfilled icecream bars...no. Paparika oatmeal...no. Peanut butter pizza...no. Saurkraut-filled lobster....no. Well, I'll just have to work with Sue to decide.

See you Saturday afternoon some time .

By the way, what temperature is the water? Swimming? Probably not ehh?

The surfers are out in their wet suits. They are about the only people that I've seen in the ocean in the last month or so.
