Scenic 30-A Bike/Hike Trail (South side of Scenic 30-A): This newly paved trail encourages biking, jogging and walking along the scenic views of sea-side towns and spectacular Gulf views.

Bike trail

This bike trail goes for a few miles. It was built all around the area and thru the small sectioned towns. The beach is great though. There will not be a lot of people so it is the perfect spot to be in.It is hard to find areas like this anymore on the beach with all the new condos.THe place is just to saturated now with them.

CR 30-A Bike Path

The County Road 30-A Bike Path runs continually for 18 miles. Tops'l is in Mile 2 at the west end. It does switch from one side of the road to the other several times. It goes throuigh a number of beachside villages including Santa Rosa Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Seagrove Beach, Seacrest, and Rosemary Beach. Grayton Beach is particularly interesting as it still has some beach cottages from the early 20th century which is amazing considering all the hurricanes that have swept through here in the past 100 years. Blue Mountain Beach is one of the highest points on the entire Gulf of Mexico at 36' on the ocean.

Also along the "A" are a number of Coastal Dune Lakes. These are spring fed lakes that are directly on the ocean only separated by the dune. When these lakes reach a certain water level, they cut through the dune and drain themselves into the ocean. The surf action then closes the breech and the lake is again separated from the gulf. This type of lake exists only in a few locations in the world.

Codos on 30-A

30-A has only two high rise condos along its entire length (18 miles). These were built pror to 1986 when Walton County enacted a beach front building hight restriction. For the past 20 years no building over 4 stories (50 feet) could be built in the 30-A Corridor. We hope that it remains that way.

Bike Path

I forgot to mention that the Bike Path crosses the enterance driveway to the RV park. You can easily ride your bike or walk to the bike path from your campsite.

I saw one post about a Thursday arrival. Is anyone else planning to arrive early and/or depart later that Sunday?

Dennis & Ellen please add your name to the roster in the Ralley area, I enjoy seeing the count go up and it is a quick check of attendees.

Thanks Jim

We're up fpr a pot luck, but we would need to bring something that we we could buy at Publix. You wouldn't want anything that we cooked.

Hey Ya`ll ,
This sounds good. We were down at Topsail back in July for a week and is a nice resort. So count us in and we have site # 138 reserved. And we can`t leave out our rat terrier and chihuahua cause they like to travel as well. The pot luck sound good to Airstreamers love to eat. Will there be a list posted for what others may bring ?? Davis and Kelly.

now if we could ONLY get rid of the guy in 163... maybe we should buy him out? offer him pot luck options...

... or we bring a potato cannon... that usually does the trick...

Not sure where we will stop. When I've driven the route down RT 95 with a car at 75mph I usually get to SC sometimes the top of GA.

I like to leave NY at 4:30-5:00AM (beat the traffic in NYC and Washington DC) and can drive till dusk so with a trailer at 65mph and a gas & food stop or two will at best average 60mph.

So that should put us at southern part NC or northern part of SC I would estimate.

That is the area we need to find a spot, any ideas?

if you're doing the ol turn and burn, i wouldn't really know. we usually camp at places way off the interstate, with tons to see and do. it'll be cold up there that time of year anyhoo.

there's an airstream only camp in helen, ga... but that's not really near anything, either.

You may want to consider coming down I-81 to Tenn, then I-40 to I-75 through Chattanooga instead. We went to Panama City (right below Topsail) last month and went through B'ham. It wasn't a bad drive at all. There are also plenty of campgrounds along the way.
