Kevin, you are awesome!
I'll have to give it a try. I may have to head toward Moraine View in early May to get there, but what a rush!
Thanks
Ron

I vote we vote on a theme!
As if being a group of twenty or so funny looking metallic campers wouldn't draw enough attention from our neighbors at a state park, imagine if you will: -everyone dressed in clothes from the era their unit was built
-colorful fun hawaiian clothes; everyone sipping from coconuts
-pajamas
-or the old stand by, TOGA!!!!!
the ideas keep coming to me. All input is appreciated.

Hawaiian would be fun.....would give me a chance to wear mine...hasn't been worn in a couple of years. Now if anybody has those fake palm trees, would go well with the flamingos.

I say we think about the theme of
"Trailer Trash"
.. which is MUCH more politically correct than OTHER kinds of trash.
I have several cookbooks of GREAT recipes regarding such.. everything from drinks to food.

Themes and Related Activities
Greetings All!
All of this talk of themes made me think of one of the most hillarious get acquainted activities that I have ever experienced. It was a game that we played on the first night of our Wagon Wheels 1999 Carvan at the East Bay State Park in Ohio. It was called The Hat Game and it was based loosely on a combination of Musical Chairs and Simon Says. Everyone was asked to bring an unusual hat to wear for this activity. For each round one hat was taken out of circulation and if you didn't have a hat when the leader called stop, you were out - - in the meantime the leader would call switch along with a direction (left or right) and you would take your hat and place it on your neighbors head. It was so much fun. Some of the hats even had stories of their own that were told by their owners! The photos that I have attached are a selection from that activity.
All of this discussion makes me wish that I could attend, but I will be on the 2005 Wagon Wheels Caravan during this year's rally.
Kevin

Ummm.. Kevin.. no offense, but I don't want to wear other people's hats.
That's a health issue. I want my OWN hat.

I printed out the form this morning to send off to Moraine View. I've been hesitant only because our home is on the market and we're not exactly sure what the next few months have in store for us. But I guess it won't hurt to send it off and hope for a free weekend! Anyone wanna buy my house? And hey, anyone have a house they want to sell me? We don't ask for much......we just want a Champagne house on a beer shack budget.

Now wait a second.....the same woman who wanted a "Trailer Trash" theme is afraid of a little healthy hat swap? C'mon.......all the cool kids are doing it. The worst that could happen is a little lice infestation - really, no big deal. Live on the edge!

Trailer Trash has become a FUN and popular theme; hence the Trailer Park Musical I started a thread about. I will list some recipes tomorrow.,. my book is at wiork and I am at home today!
I really have nothing against fun party games; it's just my professional health care training rearing it's UGLY fangs.. I spent so many years worrying about Public Health in my facility, and now volunteering for the Ombudsman Office of Illinois... that I automatically think on the devils's advocate side.
Not to gross people out, but I have one facility where the activity budget is on a ZERO and so the old lady residents share a lipstick. The facility got a fine on that one.
So, REALLY, no offense, Kevin!

I wondered when you guys would pop up! It is very hard to plan a weekend so far away.. we never know how things will be for us, either.
But if we sign up, we REALLY try to go.

dress your trailer's age or your own age?
I think the owners of the newer units would be hard pressed to wear clothing associated with year of their units production...Can you imagine Jack in baggy jeans w/ the seat clear down at his knees, a tatoo and a skull cap ?
I guess I'll have to dig out some bells and fringe, maybe a tie dyed shirt or two to celebrate our late 70's unit...far out man!

Dressing to Match Your Coach's Vintage
While I won't be at this year's Rally since the date conflicts with the Wagon Wheels Caravan, I had been planning on a take-off of the Dukes of Hazzard. One of my students, who knew about my participation in the VAC activities at International suggested that I should go as Boss Hogg - - I already have the Cadillac Convertible (only thing is that it is Baby Blue rather than white and an Eldorado rather than a DeVille) - - for the wardrobe, I already have a white Stetson and a pair of white leather loafers (all I need to do is locate a white leisure suit to complete the ensemble).

Amazingly enough, my clothes from the sixties and seventies have SHRUNK considerably through the years.
I'm not exactly sure HOW.
The same thing happens to my summer clothes when I put them in the cold attic for the winter.. shrink shrink shrink :-(
