All things being fine, I will have purchased an Overlander, and it will be ready for the Playa. I'll pop over to see you guys. I will be camping with Gigsville this year, and it will be my 10th visit to BM.

10 days on the playa

Hey All,

Due to the rain and my choice of roads out, I was on the playa for 10 days. That stuff can be real sticky. Photos and a song - Black Rock Playa - now posted at my web blog.

Blog entry:
The Wet Playa

Photos:
Stuck in the Muck

Song:
Black Rock Playa

I'm looking forward to going back and having a few other people around.

Hey Paul!

Thanks for the pre-Burning Man report.

What were the Temps?

Great fotos and enjoyed the song.

Now if you only had had a rake!

If you start now, I think you may just have enough time to to get the rig cleaned up and those rims polished up for the burn

Happy trailers

Solar or Generator? That is the question.

I had planned to upgrade my 28' Safari SE before the Burn to include either solar panels or some form of portable generator(s). I have researched the pros and cons of both set ups but would welcome the comments from those with experience on the playa as to which would be most beneficial for a week in the desert.

I have limited experience w/ boon docking but expect to do more after this summer. So this would not be solely for the Burn, but that would be it's baptism under fire. if you will.

You get to voice an opinion and I get to spend the money. How can you pass up an offer like that!

Corky

i use both.
The Bambi has the factory panel on top, with 2 heavy gel batteries. This is all we need from about april to oct in the southwest. It doesn't run aircon, but...
In the winter months when the furnace is warming i use a Honda EU2000, it is quiet, small, and uses very little fuel. i run the Honda about an hour in the morning, and as long as there is sun for the solar, we are happy campers.
We stay out a week at a time, about the limit for the holding tanks --taking showers etc...Spend one night in an RV park, and we are back out.
