What is this used for?
I was looking at some pictures of a new 27FB and I saw some sort of LP gas port mounted in the front. I went to the Airstream site and read this description
"Exterior LPG Service Port w/Quick Connect Hose & Adapter Fitting"
Could someone enlighten me as to what use this thing has? Is it for long term parking so you can hook up to a large industrial LP tank?
Thanks

I believe it is to provide the capability to run a grill or gas fireplace directly from the AS tanks, instead of carrying portable propane bottles.

I use it for my propane grill or my propane fueled generator.

Thanks
Well, that makes sense. I was thinking of propane going into the coach rather than the other way around. Thanks.

Can you tell me what sort of quick connect I need? Have a 12 foot propane hose which screws into the gas regulator on my Coleman grill but bought the wrong adapter.

Larry, I'm thinking this port provides gas at the regulated 11 inches of water column. When you connect your gas grill, do you skip the stock regulator that comes with the grill or is this enough pressure to feed through the grill's regulator?

Yes, this is a low pressure LP port and you cannot use a regulator on your grill. My grill had an accessory kit to remove the regulator and install a control valve for flame intensity. My grill is a boat grill and many of those have such options; it does not seem that the land-based, picnic propane grills have that option.

If I can't use the regulator which threads to my Coleman stove between the LP quick connect hose, then I need a 1/2 inch? female end on the other end of the QC hose to screw to the Coleman stove?

That would be a mistake. You need a valve and it should be one that is designed to adjust the flow for burner intensity. If Coleman does not make a low pressure kit for your grill you should not improvise unless you know what you are doing.
