Smile Welding near my propane lines! How do we stay safe?

Hi all!

I'm have a welder coming tomorrow to do repairs to my external stairs, which are horribly bent!

To make sure the area near the door is safe I have removed the propane tanks from the trailer and turned on the stove to release any propane in the lines. I have also turned the hot water heater into the on position, as well as the furnace.

I don't believe there is anything I can do to for the refrigerator, but have I missed anything?

Thanks for any tips!

You are just fine with what you did, probably more than necessary in fact. The amount of propane in the lines is very small to begin with, and the line would have to be broken so it could mix with air to have any issue at all. And then only with the tanks attached and turned on.

I had a coupler replaced on the tongue of my trailer, the old one cut off and a new one welded on. The shop was very competent and experienced. They didn't even bother to remove the tanks from the frame, a two minute job. I certainly would have but they didn't bother.

All you would have needed to do was turn the valves off on the propane tanks.
The higher your expectations the fewer your options.
