i want to delete the low psi fitting on my weber baby Q. What parts do i need to replace on the grill so i can use my trailers low psi external port quick disconnect?

That said, I did extensive an exploration into exactly what you're trying to do. I'm still using the Coleman 1lb. bottles.

I hate my weber Q grill for just that fact it stays at home. I bought an O-Grill it folds easy has a cast iron grill surface comes with canvas case was made by some guys that built propane torches. It cleans easy and works well with regular 20/30 lb tanks with the adaptor hose or any of the one lb cans. They have 2 sizes I got mine at Dicks on sale, camping world carries the small version. I can't say enough good things about it. Rand

I modified mine and use it on the low pressure out of the front of the trailer when we camp.
I removed the regulator and bought a 3/8 flared threaded nipple from my local True Value hardware store. Hooked up the hose and it stays with the Weber Q

I had my local propane dealer make me up a hose that goes from the front of my AS 23FB quick disconnect to my gas grill which took the little one pound bottles. I think it cost me $35 - $40 and it is 10' long.

Has any one tried using the low pressure from the AS with the grill or stove regulator? I don't see how two low pressure regulators in series would do any more than pass low pressure gas. Higher pressures close the regulator while lower pressures open it.

Sorry, I can't tell you the names of the parts, but the process is quite simple. First, get a 10-12 ft propane hose with a female and male quick connect ends (obtained from my local RV dealer). Take off the regulator from the grill. Now, for the tricky part. Your local hardware store should have the brass connectors required to attach to the grill and end with a female quick connect end. Although pretty straight forward, I spent most of a day going back and forth to the hardware and RV store to accomplish my goal (3/8, 1/2 inch connections have to be right. Best advice, get a hardware store clerk who knows what he or she is doing when it comes to propane and let them guide you. Ace is the Place! Grill works great. Be sure to get a roll of plumber's tape for the connections.

There was a short hose included with both of our new Airstreams in a plastic bag that would connect to that auxiliary propane outlet near the hitch. I would see if I could splice that onto a longer propane hose that could connect to the baby Q.

When buying teflon tape get yellow as it is for gas white for plumbing. Liitle off subject but my q220 would never get hot, phoned Weber yesterday, grill less than 2 yrs. old. No quest.asked when told them prob. next words from Weber tech I will send new valve regulator today no chge. this is service from good company. Bill

I had a propane tech tell me that it takes 10 lbs of pressure to open the regulator. You only have 1/2 lb coming from the exterior LP port. I am modifying a Cuisinart CGG-220 grill by separating the regulator from the control valve and installing a male quick connect where the regulator was attached to the valve.

As murreywalker suggested, I contacted Tejas Smokers and spoke with Mr. Cheyenne Souza. He was more than helpful, referred me to the parts needed in his catalogue and told me to call with any additional questions. I had purchased an extension hose and what were sup[posed to be the proper fittings to connect my Q2000 to my Airstream. The result was a hodepodge of 4-5 fitting that still did not work. Mr. Souza sold me a hose and two simple fittings that were not only cleaner and less expensive, but actually worked and corrected the low pressure issue. I would highly recommend anyone with a Q 2000 series barbecue contact Tejas Smokers and Mr Souza.

I have an adapter I use at home, refill my 1# bottles from the 20#. Fortunately I didn't just toss empty ones so I have quite a few that I rotate in as needed. I'm not sure where I bought the adapter, either at my trailer parts store or my friendly Ace store.

Do you put the bottles in the freezer b4 you fill them? It will fill them more.

Refilling disposable bottles is a) dangerous and b) illegal.

There are 1 pound bottles that are designed to refill safely but they are hard to find.

An even slightly overfilled disposable bottle is basically a bomb waiting to go off.

Propane tanks are not filled completely with the liquid propane as there has to be expansion room when the tank warms up and the gas evaporates for use from the fluid.

I use a 10 pound tank for the Q120 we use on the road. That is easier for me than the 20 or 30 pound sizes. I think the small tank could last almost all summer.

We use a 5# bottle with a hose for our Baby Q and cook on it a lot, and it lasts a very long time. We just returned from a 3 mos trip and the bottle still feels like it has plenty of propane in it. The 5# bottle is kind of pricey, but store very easily, not heavy and you can move it when you need or want to. We love the Baby Q

I bought my adapter to re-fill the one pounders at Northern Tool, and although I can't seem to ever get them as full as when purchased new, I've been using re-filled bottles since '08 without one problem.

Not telling you what you should do, just what has worked for me for a long time.

The one pound bottles are not designed to be refilled and eventually the seals will fail. Store the bottles upright to insure just gas escapes if the seal fails or the pressure release opens. Liquid propane escaping is the danger. Other wise get the savings. If you have the large bottle up right while you refill the 1# cylinder then you are only filling with gaseous propane.
