Refrigerator propane question

Should the ignitor on the propane burner continue to spark after the unit is warm and the starter button is released? In our 1977 Airstream the propane section of the refrigerator appears to have never been used.

On my '78, The igniter will be sparking and clicking when you have the button pressed and lighting. It stops clicking when the pilot lights, then you can release the button. It has a different click sound with a little indicator light flashing at the bottom of the refrig when the flame is out. But I think my unit may be newer than '78 a bit. It needs battery for the igniter to spark and light. It sure keeps things frozen in the freezer on the Playa, -5F or so. Don't think I've ever used it on the electric side but once or twice.

The refer has no pilot light. Only a small burner which is modulated by the gas valve controlled by the thermostat.
