Propane Tanks with Sending Units

Does anyone know where to buy the tanks, except from the dealer, that have sending units? We just bought a 22' Safari which did not have them. We can't even get a price from the dealer (Bates, Florida). Any help appreciated.

Dan

Dan,
Are you looking for tanks with sending units or gauges? If you want tanks with gauges/sending units try Airstream Dreams Also some of the "upscale" barbque/outdoor living places can order Worthington tanks for you. But they can be pricey!

The original sending units have not been available for years.

Post sending units

Andy, glad to know that. So now I don't feel so ignorant asking, What is a sending unit?

Paula.

Years ago, on some Airstream models, the LPG tanks were equipped with gauges that sent information to the monitor panel, indicating how much LPG was in each bottle.

Since the gauge had only one terminal, the readings were often erroneous.
The ground return was through the LPG bottle itself. That required tightening the LPG bottle handle down, very tight. Sometimes, the regulator/bottle bracket broke because of being over tightened.

Another great idea, that went south.

Propane Tanks with Sending Units

Airstream is still advertising the monitoring system that includes the propane level feature. The tanks are evidently available on some 2005 models. However, I can't get a straight answer from the dealer nor airstream on their availability. The panel used is the MicroPlus unit shown at http://www.catconproducts.com. However, they can't even give me the name of a tank manufacturer!

Thanks for all replies! I'm still trying to get to the bottom of this.

dchisholm----We have an 05 -25' classic that has those tanks and monitor on it. I would call Airstream Customer service and find the sourse or part number of them. I would think any good dealer would be happy to make a sale like that. By the way these tanks are aluminum. I bet you'll find them to be $$$$$$$.----Pieman
