Propane tank sending units

Our new (to us) '01 Airstream has a meter panel that shows the propane level in the tanks, however the tanks have obviously been changed to ones that don't have the metering sending units. So, the meter panel shows the tanks full all the time, and I was wondering if the sending units could be added to the tanks I have, or do I have to buy new tanks with the sending units?

If I have to change the tanks, it's probably not worth it.

Steve,
Curious mind begs..
what happened to your "original tanks"?
I believe you have to order the tanks from the supplier as an option.
I've never known of anyone adding the "sender unit".
Good Luck

Yes, the tanks need to be changed to tanks with an extra boss for the guage.

That's what I figured.

53FC, we bought the trailer used, and that's the way I came.

Thanks.
At first reading, it seemed odd that the tanks had been changed out. (being that it's such a recent unit..)
Good Luck.

Yes, that's entirely possible, as we bought it from a dealer who had it on consignment.

Being it is an Excella, the originals were also probably aluminum tanks, and the the tanks we have are steel.
