Propane tank exchange

Has anyone used propane taxi to exchange their factory tanks?

I have not. There are three things to watch:

1) Many propane exchange services short fill the cylinders which is both inconvenient and uneconomical.

2) Typically the propane exchange places only work with 20 pound cylinders. I believe your trailer has 30 pound cylinders.

3) Typically exchange services will not provide you with an aluminum cylinder. I believe your trailer has steel cylinders unless you paid extra to get aluminum ones, but that's something to keep in mind.

We typically use 2 cylinders a year and usually just get them filled when we happen across a campground or gas station that does it. My storage place fills cylinders, too, and there are a couple of places on the road from my house to the storage place.

What is Propane Taxi? I find nothing appropriate when searching.

I only use a propane exchange if my propane tank needs re-certification and can't be filled.

I use the exchange services to replace expired tanks. The hardware store, market store, and such all seem to keep the price to below 18 or 19 dollars. That means they have 17 pounds or less of gas. The lower fill is also do to storage, more room in the cylinder for expansion. When the terminal fills to 20 pounds, I get a lot of high pressure release valve purging.

Hi

The tanks all have a date on them.

Note that if you head out of the country with "old" tanks, the recertification process varies country to country.

In Ohio it's 12 years from Date of MFG and then every 5 years after that.
