Propane tank cover

Iím looking for an aluminum LPG tank cover / box like I see on 1980ís-newer Airstreams, to protect two 30# tanks and regulator. Does anyone know where I can locate one? Perhaps (heaven forbid) an 80ís Airstream being parted out?

Thanks for any leads,

The covers are fairly standard judging by the picture you posted, and the factory might have the stickers and name badges if you can't find a compete unit.

Of course, if you don't care for the stickers or name badge, the cover can be bought through any Airstream dealer I would think...

Thanks, I'm hoping to find a used one.
I particularly don't want the stickers or namebadge, just the box and cover.
I drive through a lot of snow and mud and want to protect the tanks/hoses on an older Airstream, without Camco plastic/vinyl.

The pictures I posted are representations of what I've seen.

There's not an Airstream dealer within a 1000 miles of me and I think new they are $400+.

Thanks, Walter

Salvage Yard

Colaw's Salvage or any other RV graveyard might be the place to start looking for a used one.

We have one on our 75. At first I hated it, looked to modern for our 70's but I have grown to like it and it does serve a purpose. Last year I noticed one on ebay and I think it fetched a sum of $350 but that is ebay.

I'll look for one!

Walter1 -

I'll look out in my travels around, the and abundant and nurturing SW spirit that infuses evertyhing here. There are certainly covers to be had, but wondering if there is a color vis-a-vis awning and other considerations/combo/size(16's, 19th's, 30' +s?, 40'+s?) that you wish/ what to stay away from/ etc.... I'll be terrificially gald to help you out if I can. I can call the guy and ask what he currently has, to possibly save the time/hasstle/ of getting the wrong unit. I'll call him and see what he has, then post it and see if there is interest in what he has.

Lots to sort out yet, but it seems like all can come out ahead, on these sometime the most, of tedious things..... It can happen after all!

Enjoy that AS!!!!!

Thanks for help

Hi and Thanks a lot for the responses and offers to help.

I tried RV salvage places in WA, CA and Ohio. Donít know of others. Do you guys?

Iíll place a wanted ad.

My wife installed an Ebay lockout. Itís no longer fun and cheaper way to find thingsÖitís gotten frustrating and stupid expensive.

I canít figure how to edit my profile here to add current info. Iím mostly West coast/Rockies/BC but get around.
I have homes in Alaska, and Sierra Nevada foothills of CA.
Currently in Nevada exploring abandoned mines for bats and Desert tortoises. Hey someone has to do it!

I know the aluminum tank covers arenít 60ís looking, but itís not the 60ís anymore (believe it or not!). I am much more concerned with the purpose the cover serves.
I drive through a lot of snow, mud and desert dirt roads and want to protect the tanks/hoses from the elements, road debris and limited theft deterrent.
I donít want the simple cheap $25 Camco white plastic cover.

What I have is a 1964 22í Safari with two 30# LPG tanks.
Itís not a show trailer, itís a nicely kept old unpolished camping trailer.

I would like to find a cover for two 30# tanks. Preference would be aluminum box with aluminum top, no stripes, emblems etc. Would prefer the 70ís/80ís style to new black top ones. Not really sure what was made when. The pictures I posted were just ones I came across. Iím flexible and willing to adapt what I can find.

If you can keep an eye out for a used 30# tank cover I would appreciate it.
It sometimes takes me a few days to get to internet access.
