Propane Pigtails

As part of my renovation I replaced the old Pigtails with new ones bought from Camping World. During my first trip, ono tank ran empty so I switched over to my brand new full tank and carried on. While getting ready for a trip this weekend, I took the "empty" tank to be refilled only to find it was already half full. On reconnection, I could get no gas from either bottle. Come to find that both new pigtails are not allowing gas to pass from the bottles. I have temporarily switched back to the old "old style" pigtails which has resolved the problem. What is wrong with the new pigtails.

Never heard of a problem with the pigtails. I am suspicious of your regulator, especially if it is old.

I just replaced my age hardened and leaking pigtails with new ones from Camping World. They are working properly, but they were 4" longer than the package was labeled.

I don't see how the pigtails can be the problem. Regulators will exhibit this problem when failed. Has happened to two regulators on my gas grille over the past few years...same symptom.

Regulator working fine with the old Pigtails. When new pigtails connected to gas bottle and nothing else, open ended, no gas will come out.

Well, if that is the case, then your new pigtails are not compatible with the bottles or there is a cap in the pigtail that was not removed.

The new type connections have some kind of safety valve built into them. I'm guessing they have some kind of flow control that can sense sudden pressure drop and shut off flow. I read instructions to have down stream devices shut off, then slowly open the tank valve, wait one minute, then open downstream device and light. I did not wait one minute before starting my barbeque and the flow control shut down the gas. I turned the barbeque off, turned off the tank valve and started over, waited one minute, relit barbeque, and all is good.
I don't know how this pertains to a whole trailer, but I would turn off everything first and crack tank valve slowly and see if you get flow.
