The new type connections have some kind of safety valve built into them. I'm guessing they have some kind of flow control that can sense sudden pressure drop and shut off flow. I read instructions to have down stream devices shut off, then slowly open the tank valve, wait one minute, then open downstream device and light. I did not wait one minute before starting my barbeque and the flow control shut down the gas. I turned the barbeque off, turned off the tank valve and started over, waited one minute, relit barbeque, and all is good.
I don't know how this pertains to a whole trailer, but I would turn off everything first and crack tank valve slowly and see if you get flow.
