Propane + Butane

When traveling from up north where we use propane to the South where they use butane is there a problem if you mix the two.

Never realized there was a difference...I get my tanks filled in the south all the time and have never had issues...most propane contains at least some butane

The two gases are different and will boil off at different rates. Propane boils at -41°F, while n-butane boils at +31°F.

If you blend the two, and operate in a cold climate, the propane will boil off (and power your furnace) leaving behind mostly butane.

If you are in a warmer climate it will not matter.
